  • Responsibilities

    This individual will be responsible for supporting applications and databases as they relate to geological, geophysical, petrotechnical and possibly land systems. Responsible for the delivery and support of third-party packaged applications. Works closely with the departmental DBA for SQL and/or Oracle database support as it relates to the application requirements. Works closely with internal clients to understand business needs and requirements, and to implement the appropriate information technology solutions for the company. Builds and maintains effective working relationships with other IT groups and resources to deliver seamless support to the clients.

    • Provides support for the application system to clients, technical support staff and other professional personnel to include the diagnosis and resolution of application and database issues
    • Responsibilities include vendor communications, installations, testing, documentation, and the diagnosis and resolution of problems. Also includes the monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, capacity management, provisioning, patching, upgrading and performance tuning of the application system
    • Supports multiple application systems including regular, after-hours and weekend support (as needed)
    • Communicates with clients both within IT and the business units to organize resources and complete tasks
    • Works together with various groups to define, develop, and document the application’s business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis
    • Develops and maintains user manuals and guidelines for the applications and associated support procedures
    • Trains clients to operate the new or modified programs/systems
    • Researches emerging applications, standards, and databases in support of procurement and development efforts
    • Proposes and implements system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of critical systems
    • Supports data management as needed across the business
    • Performs additional duties as assigned by unit Manager

    Required Skills

    • Must have excellent phone support, customer service, communication skills, and the ability to work in a team environment
    • Must have excellent troubleshooting skills with attention to details

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in an IT, Engineering or closely related technical field is strongly desired
    • 3+ years of experience of Windows Desktop Support with a strong understanding of software and hardware implementation
    • Oil & Gas industry experience required
