    Purpose of the Job:

    Manage the annual audit, perform financial analysis of operations including budget and job cost. Responsible for corporate compliance including insurance audits and franchise tax preparation for LLCs. Prepare annual Forecast, identify variances and communicate opportunities. Supervise work of assigned staff and outsource resources as necessary. Position will initially report to CFO.

    Part of the main requirements and responsibilities for this position are, but not limited to:

    • Audit - Coordinate the annual external audit. Prepare audit schedules and prepare reconciliations of GL accounts. Apply general accepted accounting practices and record audit adjustments.
    • Job Cost Billing - Prepare analysis of Job Cost billing on third party Build Jobs. Coordinate responses with Purchasing and Construction departments.
    • Analysis - Perform analysis of operations. Analyze job cost variances and calculate soft costs. Calculate and record Property Tax accrual and year end payment.
    • Forecast - Assist in the preparation of annual Forecast. Analyze budget to actual performance. Identify budget variances and trends. Report budget overages and communicate opportunities.
    • Compliance - Manage annual annual general liability insurance audit by preparing schedules and deliverables with other departments. Prepare Franchise Tax returns for operating LLCs and coordinate responses to IRS inquiries. Coordination of year-end property tax schedule and importing invoices into Sage.
    • Reconciliations - Prepare reconciliation of GL accounts. 
    • Policies and Procedures - Document policies and procedures and recommend changes to streamline operations.
    • Other Assignments and Special Projects - Perform other work and Special Projects as assigned.
    • Month-End Close - Perform month-end and year-end process such as reconciliations, analysis and adjusting entries.

    Document policies and procedures, coordinate with other departments, communicate with third-party build job representatives, ability to run queries and extract data from Sage and other systems to prepare analysis, assemble annual budgets requests from other departments, authority to review, prepare, and record journal entries, communicate with the State of Texas on corporate compliance.

    In order to fulfil the above responsibilities, the candidate must have the following competencies:

    • CPA preferred.
    • Accounting degree.
    • 3+ years of internal or external audit experience.
    • 5+ years experience and heavy accounting and data analysis.
    • Proficient with Excel including the use of pivot tables and VLookup.
    • Energetic with the ability to work independently in a fast pace environment.
    • Ability to adapt and apply learned knowledge to different situations.
    • Experience in Real Estate or homebuilding is desired, but not required.
    • Must have high communication skills both, written and oral.
    • Must have proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Experience with Sage 300 for Real Estate a plus.
    • Must be detailed oriented and able to meet deadlines.
