    Job Description

    As the Human Resources Business Partner for Western US, you will be responsible for providing HR generalist and administrative support for the Canada Goose retail client groups in various areas including: employee relations, compensation, recruitment, health and safety, onboarding and performance management. 

    As the first point of contact for retail employees, you will ensure all regional-wide initiatives, programs and practices are aligned to the needs of the business and successfully implemented.

    THE ROLE:

    • Provide counsel to the US retail client groups on all employee relation matters through coaching employees on the interpretation and application of policies
    • Understand, interpret and ensure compliance with all relevant employment legislative requirements including Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), as they apply to the states in the region
    • In partnership with the Retail Sr. Leadership team, be responsible for the investigation process
    • Provide regulatory and policy advice on workforce related matters while demonstrating in-depth knowledge of workforce relations and how they apply to Canada Goose
    • Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs to facilitate consistency and equity across all CG teams
    • With support from the Retail Experience leaders, provide new employees with a comprehensive onboarding program to enable a smooth transition into the company
    • Act as the first point of contact for HRIS inquiries for retail employees
    • Support health and safety programs to ensure a safe and secure work environment through implementing industry best practices, effective disability claims management and building strong working relationships with key stakeholders
    • Foster an environment which encourages continuous growth and development by working in partnership with retail management to ensure development plans are appropriate, implemented and completed
    • Support the Learning Specialist in identifying local training opportunities as they relate to the client group
    • Provide expertise and support on performance management concerns through fair and consistent application of appropriate disciplinary procedures and/or legal requirements
    • Conduct exit interviews for retail employees, ensuring contractual and legal compliance while identifying turnover trends and making actionable recommendations for improvement 
    • In partnership with the Talent Acquisition team, support the recruitment process for retail employees
    • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of appropriate documentation throughout employment history for all employees
    • Support and implement various HR projects and initiatives as led by Home Office

     

    ABOUT YOU:

    • Post-secondary education in a related field, coupled with minimum 3 years of experience in a HR role
    • Previous HR experience within the retail industry is a bonus!
    • Bonus points for experience supporting the onboarding and opening of new retail store locations
    • Working knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Human Rights legislation in the US (California required) with proven ability to seek guidance on multi-state legislation
    • Well-versed in several HR functional competencies and best practices
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of change and ambiguity
