    GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Candidly is a Series B FinTech startup looking for Data Science interns. We help people pay off their student debt, which represents a $1.5T problem for over 45M people in the US today. We are a double-bottom-line firm focused on social impact and growth. Rising seniors and recent grads are encouraged to apply. We are a distributed team so you will be working remotely. As an intern at a startup, you'll do everything from analyzing data on user behavior to aiding customer support in order to help the company grow.

     

    LOCATION: Candidly works remotely by design. There is no physical office building.

     

    JOB ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Learn and refine SQL/R/Python skills.

    • Learn to pull business-relevant data from company database.

    • Derive useful and actionable insights from data.

    • Create models to better understand user behavior.

    • Practice and improve giving data-driven presentations to senior company leadership.

    • Learn real-world causal inference when lab experiments are too costly.

    • Learn the product development lifecycle at a growing startup.

    • Embrace the startup culture.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Preference will be given to those that have taken econometrics or any causal-inference-related stats class. 

    • Willingness to learn SQL required (no prior coding experience necessary, but it is preferred).

    • Coursework in Statistics

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Strong statistical analysis and problem-solving skills

    • Passion for data visualization and communicating data stories

    • Will work cross-functionally with product managers, software engineers, data engineers, and data analysts in creating analyses and data science products

    • Ability and passion to learn new techniques to stay on the cutting edge

    • Strives for professional development and networking in a team environment

     

    DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis with a cutoff on January 15.
