Do you want to own part of a marijuana business? In addition to legalizing recreational marijuana, Proposition 207 provides for the issuance of 26 "social equity" marijuana establishment licenses. To apply, among other things, companies must be at least 51% owned by a "social equity member" that has a low-level marijuana offense (arrest, charge, or conviction) that is eligible for expungement (2.5 ounces or less, up to 6 plants for household use or paraphernalia).
