    Our client, a vertically integrated cannabis operator is seeking a Cultivation Manager to join their team in Salinas, CA.   The Cultivation Manager is an essential part of our Cultivation Management team and will manage the flowering houses.

    The Cultivation Manager is responsible for the operations and functions of the flowering greenhouses, including; ensuring plant health, irrigation and fertigation, mitigation of adverse events, and reducing plant loss. The incumbent also manages and maintains quality control measures, to provide high-quality products during harvest. The incumbent is responsible for managing resources and coordinating activities with the cultivation and processing team to ensure company quality standards are met.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain and create an up-to-date Harvest schedule and production plan that is used daily to prioritize and guide current batches through the process.
    • Complete Pre-harvest scorecards for management, and the executive team
    • In collaboration with Director of Cultivation, manages plant scheduling and organization to precisely project all plant needs on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to produce the best results for maximum plant yield.
    • Monitors plants for disease, fungus, algae, weeds, moss, and insects.

    Irrigation control:

    • Manage irrigation to best influence crop growth.
    • Train section growers in best irrigation practices, and monitors results and adjusts as necessary.
    • Test water and soil as needed to monitor nutrient levels, pH, and EC.
    • Determine appropriate fertilizer application or leaching dependent on the needs of the crop.
    • Monitor the performance of injectors to prevent fertigation problems proactively.

    Pest Management:

    • Collaborate with the management team to implement IPM strategy by identifying and mitigating potential risks to crop production as well as verification of pests and disease infestation trends.
    • Coordinates and manages organic certification requirements for DPR and other regulatory departments.
    • Organizes and performs weekly pest and disease scouting, promptly reporting quality concerns and monitoring of executing pest disease management tasks.
    • Develops a comprehensive organic IPM strategy including; bio-controls, beneficial insects, natural predators, spraying, trapping/monitoring, reporting, and environmental controls.
    • Coordinates and executes sprays according to the decision made by the cultivation management team.
    • Maintains up-to-date records for state regulations to detail pesticide logs and any other IPM products used, including SDS sheets.

    Environmental Controls:

    • Provide crops with the best attainable environmental conditions through the proper use of heating, cooling equipment, and light management.
    • Monitor, log, and control, through PRIVA, environmental conditions in all greenhouses daily.
    • Assist in the management of all operations involved with producing the crop on time and to the agreed standards.

    Manage and direct the daily activities of assigned staff and functions, including:

    • Plan and implement systems that perform the work and fulfill the mission and the goals of the Cultivation and Harvest department efficiently and effectively.
    • Plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output.
    • Ensure work location meets Cal-OSHA regulation requirements and ensures team members are trained on safety precautions.
    • Is an active member of the safety team, ensures locations written programs and Cal-OSHA safety standards are implemented and followed by team members.
    • Exercise significant authority and discretion when addressing items that concern the location, including:
    • Participate in developing and implementing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to advance the company's mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
    • Completes annual reviews for staff and is a coaching voice to staff; counsels and follows disciplinary procedures when needed.
    • Recommends hiring, performance, discipline, termination, or advancement of employees.

    EDUCATION AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Bachelor's degree or greater or a minimum of 3 years' experience in a cannabis production environment is highly desired; a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent will be considered.
    • Quality assurance, quality control with good manufacturing practices (GMP)
    • Three – five years of proven nursery processing, harvesting, cultivation or similar experience
    • Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
    • Advanced cannabis cultivation experience, including harvesting, drying, and curing.
    • Understanding of Nursery functions; irrigation and fertigation, IPM in collaboration with Cultivation Team.
    • Skill in analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, projecting consequences of proposed actions, and implementing recommendations in support of goals.
    • Demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (excel, word, PowerPoint, etc.), Trellis software, Google Spreadsheet, and Google Docs.

    COMPENSATION: $85,000-$95,000
