    Our client, a leading cannabis branded products manufacturer, is seeking an entrepreneurial Chief Financial Officer to join their rapidly growing company based in San Diego, CA.

    The CFO will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial functions including preparing consolidated financial statements, implementing effective accounting policies and procedures controls to assist the company in meeting their financial growth goals.

    The CFO will need to demonstrate a high level of competency in multi-state and international reporting as well as being able to organize multiple accounting teams across their many subsidiaries. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding and execution of US GAAP. Responsibilities include managing and restructuring the accounting and inventory departments through all phases of accounting and inventory management, working directly with the CEO to implement company strategy, assess growth budgets, and ensure accurate financial reports are generated across all of the company's interests. Financial accounting responsibilities include filings appropriate for a publicly traded Cannabis Company, and managing accounting teams to perform the following: preparation and review of timely and accurate financial statements, journal entries, accounts payable, oversight of billing, credit and collections processes, review and reconciliation of account balances, month and year end close procedures, preparation of annual budgets, quarterly Budget Forecast updates, and preparation and analysis of production/sales reports for strategic decision making.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assume full responsibility for managing the company’s financial functions, including overseeing the remote accounting team and producing timely and accurate financial reports to the executive management team.
    • Represent the company and future financial performance to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, auditors, public officials, etc.
    • Develop and lead financial strategy, goals, and objects for fast growing business lines.
    • In-depth knowledge of corporate board reporting and investor management.
    • Participate in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model and operational execution.
    • Manage financial planning and analysis staff. Supervise creation of reports, software implementation and tools for budgeting and forecasting.
    • Maintain banking relationships and strategic alliances with financial vendors and business partners.
    • Prepare and maintain regular financial planning reports to divisions; Monthly profit and loss forecast by forecast vs. budget; weekly cash flow. Prepare and present monthly financial budgeting reports by division.
    • Assist in establishing yearly objectives and meeting agendas, and selecting and engaging outside consultants (accounting team, auditors, investment advisors)
    • Engage with the Executive management team in finance, audit, and explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.
    • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed. Manage cash flow providing short- and long-term cash flow planning.
    • Oversee weekly cash management and AP Department, approve large payables, initiate large wires and ACHs.
    • Oversee Accounts Receivable management and provide guidance relating to the collection process.
    • Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations.
    • As the client continues its growth trajectory, the CFO will get involved with the financial aspects of acquisition due diligence, asset raising, financing and participate in reporting for investor relations.
    • Oversee cash, investment, treasury, and asset management effectively.
    • Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization's operations and business plans.
    • Corporate planning and structuring, tax planning, M&A’s private equities, valuations, and FP&A.
    • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions. Remain current on audit best practices as well as state, federal and local laws regarding company operations.
    • Oversee preparation of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statements.
    • Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and corporate/overhead cost allocation
    • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in business, Finance or Accounting plus MBA preferred.
    • CPA certification required.
    • US GAAP experience required.
    • 10+ years of Finance and Accounting experience within Manufacturing, CPG or similar industries required. Experience in both traditional Retail and/or Agriculture a plus
    • Cost or Manufacturing Accounting experience required
    • Knowledge of 280E cannabis tax laws and regulations strongly desired.
    • Experiencing with M&A due diligence/financial analysis, corporate financing, asset raising.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.

     Compensation: $200-250K Plus Equity
