    Our client, a vertically integrated cannabis company in California, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Professional to join their rapidly growing team.

    The HR Manager, or Personnel Manager, will oversee all HR practices, processes and strategies for the company. Their duties include overseeing the recruitment process, planning and implementing training programs for staff and ensuring that employees follow best practices and company policies.

    Location: Must be willing to relocate or travel to office in Mendocino County, CA

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Works with employees and management to research and resolve employee relations issues including disciplinary actions
    • Administers leaves of absence requests while applying appropriate Federal and State law entitlements to each individual leave of absence. Includes leave tracking, required correspondence and documentation, and benefit premium collection
    • Processes bi-weekly payroll in conjunction with management
    • Responsible for payroll reporting and reconciliation
    • Responds to claims for unemployment insurance, including preparation of supporting documentation and managing the appeals process
    • Manages the separation process, including collection of final documents, exit interviews and sending required documents/final paycheck to the supervisor or departed employee
    • Manages performance review process
    • Prepares and updates job descriptions on an ongoing basis
    • Oversee recruitment, selection and the onboarding process to ensure new hire success
    • Compiles data and prepares responses to requests for information from government agencies
    • Coordinates certification training activities including course enrollment, training facility logistics, and testing
    • Updates and maintains the Employee Handbook and other policy/procedure-related documents
    • Coordinates training and/or rollout of new Company procedures/policies.
    • Monitors compliance with State-required Sexual Harassment Prevention Training; maintains training calendar for new supervisors and re-training requirements
    • Setting and reviewing pay structures and employee perks and benefits
    • Managing HR department’s annual budget
    • Reporting on the performance and progress of HR department to senior stakeholders
    • Other HR duties as required

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint a must
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and critical thinking skills required
    • Must be detail-oriented and meticulously organized, with excellent follow-through and analytical skills
    • Must be able to work independently and take the initiative to address issues on a pro-active basis
    • Problem solving, project management, and presentation skills required
    • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of employees and managers. Strong persuasion and conflict resolution skills required
    • Knowledge of or exposure to Federal and California employment laws such as ADA, FMLA and California Leave laws and benefits, with the demonstrated ability to understand and apply such legal requirements and interpret and apply complex policies

    EXPERIENCE:

    Minimum of 3-5 years of directly related HR experience as a HR Manager or related position

    EDUCATION:

    • BA/BS in Human Resources, Human Resources Certificate or education in Business or related field is preferred

    COMPENSATION: $65K - $85K based on experience
