    JOB PURPOSE

Our Aero/NVH team is seeking a highly motivated, well-rounded individual with experience in automotive aeroacoustics – broadly skilled but with a focus on simulation. You will be involved in the development of new vehicles, proposing ways to achieve wind noise and other related performance targets through extensive simulation, and you'll work with our test team to help plan and execute tests, then undertake correlation and come up with creative solutions to issues that are found. You'll collaborate regularly with the Aerodynamics, NVH, and Thermal team members to deliver an outstanding level of acoustic performance for our customers, and you'll be strongly encouraged to come up with inventive ideas and push for technical excellence across all the teams you work with.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Establish vehicle wind noise performance targets, and achieve those targets

    • Apply computational fluid dynamics to predict and visualize flow features creating noise

    • Propose creative solutions to wind noise concerns at each stage of vehicle development and production

    • Take ownership of planning, reviews with design and engineering teams, correlation with test data, and reporting of results

    • Work with the test team to plan and execute aeroacoustics evaluations on track and in the wind tunnel, and correlate back to CFD

    • Use CATIA to check design changes and create noise mitigation options for consideration by design and engineering teams

    • Identify improvements to software tools used, methodologies used, and the development process as it applies to noise evaluation and mitigation – drive our approach for the best efficiency and outcomes

    • Work on aerostructural simulation as and when needed in collaboration with CAE engineers, and work on general external aerodynamic or related problems when workloads align

    • Willingness to travel domestically (and potentially internationally) for test campaigns

    EXPERIENCE

    • 3+ years of strong experience in CFD-based aeroacoustics for automotive or closely-related applications
    • Direct experience applying multiple software solutions to calculate vibration through glass/structure to predict noise at the occupant's ear, based on pressure fluctuations
    • Excellent fundamental understanding of aerodynamic noise and fluid dynamics in general
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical/aerospace or related field
    • Able to communicate complex information clearly to engineers and managers
    • Demonstrated proficiency with CAD surfacing (Catia is a bonus, but any package is useful)
    • Ability to meet timing, budget, and output targets with good self-management – demonstrated ability and willingness to lead an area and/or take ownership of attributes, and deliver
    • Proficiency with Elements and/or Powerflow or similar; experience with acoustic wind tunnel testing, hands-on experience with subjective wind noise evaluation preferred

    WHAT'S COOL ABOUT WORKING HERE...

    • Four months paid primary care giver leave
    • Flexible PTO
    • Participation in the Employee Equity Compensation Plan
    • Beautiful new facility in Torrance
    • Casual workplace with an unbelievable feeling of energy
    • Work in a high-growth start up that will redefine urban mobility
