    The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the overall workflow of domestic and international shipments and will work with freight forwarders and suppliers to ensure on-time booking, deliveries and shipment related tasks are completed daily according to business requirements and customs compliance. You will track and report on shipments, working closely with other departments to maintain delivery schedule awareness, generate all required commercial documentation and coordinate with vendor, freight forwarders, and distribution centers, and constantly assess and understand risk to ensure all logistics activities are in the best interest of Canoo. The ideal candidate should be able to identify when to take the time to solve large and complex issues that could present logistical bottlenecks to consistent, world class operations. You will design and implement processes and procedures to ensure the most efficient operation of warehouse activities and effective logistics operations.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversee the pipeline flow of logistical operations and projects throughout the organization
    • Produce communication plan documents to Logistics team to ensure effective execution of any communication plans
    • Work with Logistics team to provide necessary data for metrics and effectiveness reports. 
    • Collaborate with Logistics team to manage resource allocation with function and report on budget expenditures and any possible cost savings
    • Ensure cost leadership with vendors and provide regular updates on vendor project status to Logistics team
    • Develop and manage training programs for logistical packaging operations, preventative maintenance programs, hazardous materials handling and transportation
    • Manage, monitor, evaluate, and coordinate Integrate Logistics Support plan implementation
    • Serve as focal point for planning, management, and coordination of life cycle logistics
    • Assist in developing less experienced logisticians
    • Exercise independent judgment in directing subordinates including assigning responsibilities, providing guidance, and establishing standards of performance
    • Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, & equipment required
    • Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation
    • Develop, improve, and implement procedures that promote the most efficient and effective movement and storage of materials
    • Develop training procedure for department personnel in roles or responsibilities regarding warehouse procedure
    • Meet specific customer requirements or customized transportation methods
    • Plan or implement material flow management systems to meet production requirements
    • Create policies or procedures for logistics activities
    • Monitor compliance to corporate safety and security policies

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree
    • 5+ years of relevant logistics experience  
    • Previous experience with working with lithium ion batteries (automotive experience a plus)
    • Proficient with utilizing major carrier shipping portals
    • Ability to operate power equipment (Fork lift, pallet jack)
    • Experience leading people or projects
    • Ability to influence without authority and experience driving cross-functional change within an organization
    • Strong project management skills
    • Deep understanding of material delivery methods (e.g. powered industrial equipment, automated guided vehicles, conveyor, rail-guided vehicles) and strategies (e.g. forklift-free)
    • Experience with CATIA, Solid works, AutoCAD, Sketchup
    • Experience with discrete event simulation software
    • Willing to travel extensively (50%+)
    • Available for all shifts and extended hours: work schedule may vary depending on business needs and flexibility is required
    • Proven ability to manage, launch, and achieve standardization practices using process improvement tools
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
