JOB PURPOSE

This person will work closely with the Department Manager to deliver Automotive Prototype projects on-time with the highest level of quality. You should be comfortable 3, 3+2, and 5 Axis milling and contouring. Must be proficient in 3, 3+2, 5 Axis milling and contouring in a low volume prototype environment. You will be responsible for the engineering and application of unique and creative fixturing methods throughout the machine shop in order to reduce setups and tooling for prototype parts and models. As an ideal candidate, you are a motivated self-starter who can work independently and without supervision. 

RESPONSIBILITIES  

• Develop and prepare efficient multi-axis Prototype CNC programs using CAM software
• Design and implement creative fixtures, work holding and tooling for 1 off prototype parts
• Ability to set up & operate CNC milling and turning equipment, as well as common machine shop support equipment
• Work with department manager to create and maintain build schedule 
• Work closely with CNC Set Up Operators to complete projects and tasks 
• Maintain work orders for projects and daily tasks thru Jira 
• Maintain quality of all work completed in the Machine Shop 
• Maintain Machine Shop inventory 
• Ability to follow detailed drawings and execute tasks at a high level of detail and quality 
• Possess critical thinking skills to devise solutions to new problems 
• Clean and organized worker to maintain overall workspace cleanliness and organization 
• Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to teach others 
• Continued learning and growth

EXPERIENCE  

• 10+ years of experience in a Prototype / Job Shop Environment 
• 10+ years CAD/CAM programming in 3, 3+2 and Simultaneous 5 axis 
• 5+ years Programming Simultaneous 5 axis contouring  
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or 5+ years as a Tooling Engineer  
• CAD experience required - Catia preferred  
• CNC set up/operator experience preferred
