JOB PURPOSE

Be a part of the next wave with the Power Electronics team. Work alongside Canoo's talented and diverse Propulsion group for the next major phase of development. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in working with the build and testing of vital high voltage components and systems._ _The experience you gain through this internship will be broad, and helpful in preparing you for other fast-paced work environments. This is a paid internship for Summer 2021 with an option to start on May 24, 2021 or June 21, 2021 and an option to end on August 13, 2021 or September 10, 2021.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide mechanical engineering support for new product development activities
• Support in the build of power electronics assemblies and the optimization of work instructions
• Execute verification testing as defined by the mechanical specification and test plan
• Track accuracy of cost/mass of assemblies, including sub-components to support optimization studies by alignment to vehicle targets
• Track BOM of relevant assemblies and manage inventory of all subcomponents
• Work directly with mechanical designers on CAD models and drawings
• Generate and/or process engineering revisions as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Currently pursuing or completion of a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Must be at a minimum in second year of pursuit in BS degree
• Good time management habits, ability to multi-task, ability to sustain focus on long tasks
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way
• Attitude of taking initiative, enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, teamwork, creativity
• Enjoy a team environment and also flexible enough to work independently where needed

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Previous engineering internship or co-op experience in the automotive space
• Professional or recreational hands-on experience in automotive
• Catia V6 experience
