    JOB PURPOSE

    As a Launch Engineer in the Exteriors team, you will be joining a highly motivated team of automotive engineers dedicated to bringing quality products to market on time, within budget and with exceptional quality.

    As Launch Engineer you will be working with cross functional teams and suppliers to ensure a smooth transition from design to physical product. Working closely with the SQE department you will be responsible for the continual ramp, stabilization, and optimization of the Exterior Systems including but not limited to Fascia, Fender, Underbody Panels, Trims and Molding, Mirrors, Chargeport Door etc. Through tool trials, gamma build, pre-production builds and launch, you will ensure that manufacturing, component, and assembly concerns are identified, captured and appropriate corrective actions are put in place to ensure a timely resolution of all concern. You will play an integral role in the successful launch of the product.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support the Supplier Quality activities prior and during the build events.
    • Support the product development and manufacturing process during the build phases and launch.
    • Collect, document, and triage the build issues pertaining to assembly, quality, performance and lead the issue root cause activities.
    • Work with the stakeholders to define, test and implement issue resolutions.
    • Support engineering design change trials.
    • Review, sign-off and approve supplier requests for component changes.
    • Assist Incoming Quality and Assist End-of-Line Testing.
    • Support finished vehicle and assembly process audits.
    • Implement short- and long-term countermeasures to support build schedule and validate improvements.
    • Participate in Design Reviews to support engineering activities during product development.
    • Review FMEA, Process Flow Diagram, Control Charts, etc to identify and resolve issues during development and launch of product.
    • Travel Required: Up to 75%

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
    • 10+ years' experience of launching new programs.
    • Strong knowledge of Plastic Injection Molding, Thermoforming, Compression molding and other manufacturing processes utilizing a variety of material.
    • Strong understanding of vehicle craftsmanship, fit and finish, and quality requirements.
    • Ability to read engineering drawings and do GD&T analysis.
    • Proficiency in CAD software, preferably CATIA V5/V6.
    • Experience with MS Office Suite.
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to inspect, test, do dimensional analysis and report generation in automotive environment.
    • Ability to make data driven decisions.
    • Experience defining test plans, define test set up and analyzing data.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Self-motivated and driven.
