    JOB PURPOSE

    The Battery Team Intern supports the Test Engineers in the Battery Department at Canoo. The internship will span the Design Validation (DV) phase of an electric vehicle battery pack slated for high volume production. The Battery Intern will own one or two larger projects over the course of their internship and spend the rest of their time getting hands-on experience in the Battery Lab.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain laboratory stock of consumable items (thermocouples, wire, connectors, etc)
    • Translate component requirements into Component or Subsystem Test Plans
    • Instrument test article (Device Under Test) with thermocouples or other necessary instrumentation
    • Work to start and run tests in the Battery Lab
    • Data analysis and reporting. Evaluation of pass/fail criteria of critical battery system requirements
    • Continuous improvement of test setups, equipment, and data reporting

    EXPERIENCE

    • Current pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent preferred
    • Previous internship experience in design or test engineering is required. Automotive and/or battery experience is favorable. These qualifications could come from extra-curricular activities such as Formula SAE, Mini Baja, etc.
    • Knowledge of data acquisition systems and how to use them to evaluate DUT performance
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Good written and verbal communication with ability to create effective, data-driven reports
    • Strong drive to learn, willingness to ask questions & take initiative is a huge plus here!
