JOB PURPOSE

The Metrology Intern will work closely with the In House Manufacturing prototype manufacturing team and will assist in operating optical and laser scanners to obtain 3D scan data that is used for inspection comparisons to CAD models. You should be familiar with the 3D environment in CAD packages like Solidworks, Catia, or NX. You will use Microsoft Office software's regularly as well as a series of hand tools and shop equipment to complete tasks. Ability to work well on a team and attention to detail are preferred. 

This is a paid internship for Summer 2021 with an option to start on May 24, 2021 or June 21, 2021 and an option to end on August 13, 2021 or September 10, 2021.

__ RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Assist in part preparation for scanning  
• Operate 3D Scanner to create mesh files for inspection 
• Produce inspection reports for the given features and tolerance
• Reverse Engineer Scan data to CAD 
• Assist in various shop tasks as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs and be capable of utilizing dollies and pallet jacks 
• Ensure work areas are clean and organized daily 
• Applicant must be willing to work 40+ hours a week on-site in Torrance, CA

EXPERIENCE 

• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word) 
• Strong spatial reasoning skills 
• CAD modelling experience is a plus 
• Related Industry experience a plus 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
• Keen willingness to learn new concepts and skills
