    We are seeking Cantonese Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Cantonese, a major Chinese language spoken in Hong Kong, Macau, Guangdong, and diaspora communities, is a priority language often required for asylum, immigration, and refugee cases.

    Responsibilities

    Provide real-time Cantonese ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.

    Interpret accurately, impartially, and confidentially in immigration, legal, and administrative settings.

    Adhere to USCIS/DHS interpreter standards and ethics.

    Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation requests.

    Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.

    Qualifications

    Native or near-native fluency in Cantonese and English.

    2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, healthcare, community, or government preferred).

    Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.

    Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.

    Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
