    Job Description

    Important Note: This is a stateside posting. Applicants for this job must currently reside in the United States and be legally allowed to work in the United States. The position is remote with up to 20% travel required. US based onsites will be in our Mesa, AZ offices.

    We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Software Development Manager (SDM) to lead our software development efforts. As the SDM at Canyon GBS, you will play a pivotal role in guiding the development of cutting-edge software solutions, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within our engineering department. This role offers the opportunity to lead impactful projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive forward our company's mission of delivering unparalleled technology solutions.

    Responsibilities

    • Software Development & Technical Leadership: Lead a hands-on approach in developing innovative enterprise products using PHP, Laravel, Livewire, Alpine.js, React, Vue, and Tailwind CSS. Ensure the adoption of industry-standard CI/CD practices and release management through GitHub, AWS, and Azure. Provide technical guidance, promoting best practices, code quality, and adherence to architectural standards.

    • Team Leadership & Resource Management: Mentor and inspire a globally distributed team of developers across the US, UK, India, and the Philippines, offering support and professional development opportunities. Effectively manage team resources, including staffing and task allocation, to optimize productivity and achieve project goals.

    • Agile Methodologies & Process Improvement: Champion the use of SCRUM Agile methodologies, lead tech planning, and participate in SCRUM ceremonies and leveraging JIRA for project management. Continuously seek opportunities to enhance development processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, productivity, and quality.

    • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of development efforts. Regularly communicate with stakeholders, including senior management, to provide updates, address concerns, and gather feedback.

    • Risk Management & Performance Evaluation: Identify and address risks associated with software development projects, ensuring successful outcomes. Conduct performance evaluations, providing feedback and supporting the professional growth of team members. Handle additional tasks as needed to support overall company operations.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Education: Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Web Development/Design, or Related Field.

    Note: Associate degree holders without a Bachelors may be considered for exceptional candidates who have 5+ years of experience in software development.

    • Team Leadership & Management: 1-3 years of experience in engineering team leadership or management, with a proven track record in mentoring, recruiting, and enhancing team capabilities.

    • Advanced Engineering Expertise : At least 7 years of engineering experience, primarily in PHP, with a strong preference for candidates with expertise in Laravel. Demonstrable experience in software design, including 5+ years leading the development of multi-tier web services.

    • Software Development Lifecycle Proficiency : Comprehensive knowledge of the entire software/hardware/networks development lifecycle, including but not limited to coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

    • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Solid experience in working closely with UI/UX, accessibility, and product teams to craft seamless product experiences. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, partners, technical teams, and senior leadership to define product features, technical designs, and strategy.

    • People Development : A strong background in nurturing and developing software engineering talent, improving team effectiveness, and driving technical excellence within the team.
