  • Responsibilities

    The Capacity Management Analyst role is responsible for generating and compiling reports based on internal carrier and performance data, as well as customer needs. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business and customer requirements. The Capacity Management Analyst role will support planning, designing, developing, and launching efficient business, financial, and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes. This role will apply communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the profitability and productivity of the business unit.

    Responsibilities:

    • Understand account characteristics and cost to serve customers.
    • Interact directly with LTL carriers.
    • Aid in preparing and delivering reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in the carrier network or internal systems.
    • Apply statistical modeling methods to determine the potential impact of pricing strategies on profitability.
    • Use transportation management systems and business intelligence tools to monitor capacity utilization.
    • Utilize data visualization tools to illustrate key findings and metrics.
    • Recommend pricing strategies that align closely with market trends and identify new market segments.
    • Ability to negotiate price, service, and capacity levels with carriers.
    • Collaborate with Sales and Operation departments on developing and implementing competitive pricing strategies.
    • Calculate rates for freight based on available data.
    • Compute and report bid analytics.
    • Conduct independent judgement around bids and pricing of freight.
    • Work closely with Strategic Sourcing on potential lane and market rates.
    • Assist management in developing and reviewing P&L’s and QBR’s for accounts.
    • Develop scorecards for strategic carriers leveraging DOMO for reports.

    Qualifications:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Analytical approach to decision making.
    • High-level problem-solving skills.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and navigate multiple competing priorities.
    • Understanding of carrier operations and freight brokerage.
    • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, DOMO).
    • Proficiency in transportation management software.
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or Mathematics Required. 1 year of equivalent work experience may be substituted for each year of education required.
    • 2+ years’ experience providing analytical expertise in a transportation or logistics sector required.
    • Experience in a brokerage environment preferred.

    Covenant’s compensation philosophy’s intent is to use a competitive total compensation strategy to determine the current market value of a position while also considering individual factors such as performance in current position, time in seat of current position, experience, level of responsibility/accountability, and longevity with the company. The system will be objective and non-discriminatory.

    Pay Range: $45,011.20-$69,576

    Pay Grade: 7
