Job Description

Your role is to advise customers and work with them to successfully implement SAP with a focus on using as much of standard SAP processes and content with customizations architected with a focus on cloud adoption and migration. With your knowledge of SAP and SAP products, you are expected to:

• Support customers to accelerate their projects and roadmap execution by supporting the set-up of Design Authority Boards, providing directions and guidance.
• Participate in Design Advisory Services delivery to guide and advise customers in executing projects and programs.
• Provide advice and support to customers in their transition towards becoming a Native Cloud company using Agile and DevOps methodologies such as SAFe.
• Support the customers in their business, process, and technology designs by aligning the work of a team of architects from a technical point of view.
• Consult, design, and build/integrate/deploy state-of-the-art architecture for SAP applications on SAP BTP Cloud Foundry/On-Premise environments for large digital transformation projects.
• Actively design & implement leading SAP technology architectures and optimize solution portfolios to accelerate digital transformation within the SAP eco-system with a strong focus on the business technology platform.
• Decide on hybrid SAP architectures, their interfaces, and shape solutions on the business technology platform
• Engage, influence, and improve our best practices, guidelines & principles related to the SAP BTP based on experience, self-discovery & trends
• Ensure sustainability of solutions by designing and defining integration patterns, solutions & migration paths

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Review and create a detailed design of customer business processes based on SAP product-family and customer-specific development that maps to the customer’s current or future process-, application- and system landscape.
• Review of business processes and corresponding mapping into IT architecture
• Prepare and run workshops with subject matter experts and other staff, including creating formal presentations to define the technical design of SAP implementations and transitions.
• Design architecture based on process requirements, application, and system landscape
• Analyze and define requirements for customer-specific development needs or integration requirements.
• Define customer roles to execute the business processes.
• Conduct one-to-one interviews for information-gathering purposes.
• Responsible for the architecture, strategy, and design of SAP Business Technology Platform services on customer engagements in alignment with SAP’s guidelines.
• Manage roadmap and lifecycle of the BTP services, ensuring reliability, security, and compliance of its services to the ERP platform
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to the peer architects, internal COE, partners, and external stakeholders in driving BTP discussions and its implementation
• Work directly with customer’s ERP platform owner and SMEs to understand, prioritize, and advise on BTP focus and rollout
• Lead architecture design workshops during the migration of the on-premise ERP platform to a hyperscaler by applying the agile/scrum methods and CI/CD principles wherever applicable to ensure optimal usage of BTP services
• Establish guidelines, processes & tools and provide technical guidance to ensure seamless consumption of BTP services across the development, integration, and automation needs
• Mature and maintain appropriate BTP service metrics, key performance indicators, key risk indicators, and service level agreements and accountable for communicating critical updates and BTP service consumption to the management for auditing and reporting purposes
• Develop a deep understanding of Global ERP’s business needs, processes, and environment to enforce GxP compliance, data governance, and security policies as they apply to the BTP

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Experience with SAP Cloud Solutions focusing on the S/4 Public and Private cloud domains.
• Experience in operating at the Technical Architect level & knowledge of SAP Architecture.
• Team player who can collaborate with Sales, Presales, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operation.
• SAP Technical Architect experience in migration projects.
• Actively participate in delivery roles to show how to use modern SAP solutions.
• Manage internal and external 3rd party vendor teams on the solution approach and defining process.
• Build trusted advisor relationships with customer stakeholders.
• Work as Counterpart for Client to understand the business context, IT landscape, business, and technical requirements.
• Drive solution strategy and create winning proposals responding to client’s business and migration requirements.
• Effective communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Overall 10+ years of proven SAP implementation experience with 2 - 4+ years in the SAP Business Technology Platform (formerly Cloud Platform) as an SAP Cloud Engineer, SAP Technology Consultant, or Architect.
• Certified SAP Business Technology Platform architect (Preferred).
• Technical architecture experience with hyperscaler cloud solutions and SAP platform solutions such as BTP extension suite, business application studio, HANA cloud databases, and analytics cloud solutions.
• Ability to understand the functional design, prepare technical documents and implement BTP solutions which include implementation of highly scalable systems, release management, software configuration, design, development, integration, and execution.
• Deep understanding of BTP core services and solutions such as data management, analytics, artificial intelligence, application development, extension, integration, and automation.
• Strong BTP administration experience in managing the global account(s), sub-account(s), spaces, entitlements, quotas, and licensing models.
• A clear understanding of various SAP BTP environments (Neo, Cloud Foundry, and Kyma) and their corresponding services.
• Good understanding of BTP Security Authentication & Authorization Provisioning
• Experience using the tools and programming models and APIs such as cloud connector, CLI for CloudFoundry, BTP SDL, GIT, Node.js, Python, SAPUI5, and Java.
• Exposure to traditional SAP Line of Business solutions such as S/4HANA, Ariba, Concur, LBN, and IBP for integration, extension, and analytics scenarios
• Development experience and managing deployments to the SAP Business Technology Platform, the Cloud Foundry runtimes, and the core service offerings within the SAP BTP
• Must have broad development or general technical experience in both SAP and non-SAP related frameworks, design patterns, development paradigms, and programming languages, e.g., ABAP OO, SAPUI5, Java Spring, and a good understanding of JavaScript-based frameworks in both frontends (UI5) and Backends (Node.js) Design and development of the cloud services SAP API Management @ SAP Integration Suite and SAP API Business Hub
• Experience working in DevOps teams, utilizing agile tools like Jira, Git /Gitlab/GitHub, Jenkins
• Must have work experience in integrating on-premise S/4HANA using SAP Cloud Connector, SAP Cloud SDK (Java/Node.js) with SAP BTP (Cloud Foundry)
• Must have experience in designing, developing, and working with HTTP-based API guidelines/protocols, for example, in REST, SOAP, and OData.
• Good understanding of SAP emerging technology and product roadmaps for both on-premise and cloud offerings
• Good understanding of RDBMS. SAP HANA on-premise, SAP HANA as a Service / SAP HANA Cloud experience is a must.

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Extensive SAP implementation experience (5+ years) in multiple industry sectors
• Extensive experience of operating at Architect level or willingness to build path
• Knowledge of SAP Cloud Architecture, SAP Cloud Solution(s), and SAP HANA would be a distinct advantage
• Familiarity with SAP Activate methodology and SAP implementation tools such as SAP Solution Manager would be a distinct advantage.

Qualifications

Candidates should be flexible / willing to work across this delivery landscape which includes and not limited to Agile Applications Development, Support and Deployment.
