    Job Description

    CAPINCROUSE LLP IS PLEASED TO BE WORKING WITH CHILDREN'S HUNGER FUND TO HELP FILL THEIR CFO POSITION.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the Executive Team. The CFO reports to the Vice President of CHF, assuming a strategic role in the overall management of the organization. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial related activities of CHF. Responsibilities will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, strategic planning, legal, and communication with the other members of the Executive Team, department Directors, and the Board of Directors. The CFO will assist and evaluate the financial performance of the organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts. In this connection, the CFO will provide financial insights and recommendations relating to both the short-term and long-term goals and strategies of the organization.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS):

    • Competent user of Windows/MS Office/Internet, able to quickly learn new software applications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
    • 2 years’ CFO experience (nonprofit experience a plus)
    • Progressive responsibility experience in accounting. Basic mathematics and accounting knowledge.
    • Knowledge of federal and state regulations, and auditing policies and standards.
    • Knowledge of spreadsheet software to quantify and illustrate complex financial reports.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Ability to exercise confidentiality, good judgment, and discernment.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be a team player.
    • Excellent oral and written command of the English language.

    Additional Information

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Serve as a strategic business partner to the Executive Team.

    2. Assess and evaluate the financial position of the organization with regard to both short-term and long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts.

    3. Communicate, engage, and interact with the Board of Directors, President and Executive Team.

    4. Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide appropriate insights and recommendations.

    5. Interpret and analyze forecast trends to assist in managing revenues and funding.

    6. Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper preparation of financial reports and the functioning of all financial software systems.

    7. Review and ensure application of internal controls and financial policies of CHF.

    8. Oversee the month-end closing process, constantly reviewing procedures and eliminating inefficiencies.

    9. Oversee preparation and distribution of monthly financial statements.

    10. Serve as the key point of contact for external auditors.  Manage the preparation and support of the external audit.

    11. Manage the cash flow planning process and assure funds availability.

    12. Oversee cash, investments, and management of organization assets.

    13. Maintain relationships with the organization’s banks, legal, insurance and accounting providers, and other business partners.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead by example, including but not limited to:  demonstrate CHF’s mission, distinctives, values and statement of faith in execution of responsibilities, actively participate in required meetings/events, comply with and positively promote CHF policies and procedures.

    • Promote an organizational culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning, a commitment to excellence, and spiritual growth.

    • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative (coaching) approach on a consistent basis; develop unity and spiritual depth of team members and coach direct reports in doing the same.

    • Establish and monitor staff performance, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct performance appraisals, and recommend salary adjustments.

    • Develop and oversee department budget, as approved by the Executive Team; ensure faithful stewardship and integrity for self and all direct/indirect reports.

    • Standard Office Equipment (telephone, computer workstation, printer, copier, scanner, calculator)

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Primarily: office; occasionally: warehouse

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Constantly communicate accurately both verbally (in person, by phone) and in writing/email

    • Constantly use a computer such as for reading/creating/editing email, documents, spreadsheets or conducting internet-based research

    • Frequently conduct in-person informational meetings and makes presentations about CHF, whether formal or informal, external or internal, scheduled or impromptu

    • Occasionally lift up to 35 lbs
