About the Organization The Capital Area Food Bank is the largest organization in the Washington, DC metro area working to solve hunger and its companion problems: chronic under-nutrition, heart disease, and obesity. By partnering with 444 community organizations in DC, MD, and VA, as well as delivering food directly into hard to reach areas, the CAFB is helping 540,000 people each year get access to good, healthy food. Description The DC Partnership Coordinator will play a critical role in achieving the mission of the Capital Area Food by supporting, recruiting, and enhancing the abilities of partner agencies located in the District of Columbia. The Coordinator will develop a strong understanding of the local emergency food environment, identify opportunities to strengthen the CAFB's network, make connections across partners and programs, and recommend anti-hunger advocacy strategies. Essential Functions: The Capital Area Food Bank partners with 132 organizations on the front lines of anti-hunger work in the District of Columbia. The DC Partnership Coordinator will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the partnerships of these partner agencies in addition to monitoring sites for compliance. This position will work in a collaborative environment as part of the DC Regional Team that oversees the work of the Capital Area Food Bank in the District of Columbia, as well as with position counterparts on the VA Regional Team and the MD Regional Team. Partnership Building and Administration (including, but not limited to) Primary point of contact for 132 partner agencies located in all 8 Wards of the District of Columbia; Schedule and conduct site monitoring and evaluation; Maintain partner agency information and accurately updates databases and files; Conduct targeted recruitment efforts for new partners in high needs areas; Facilitate new partner trainings and workshops; Respond in a timely manner to partner concerns and make recommendations for process improvement; and Coordinate with other regional teams to communicate best practices and lessons learned. Regional Outreach and Engagement (including, but not limited too) Provide outreach to potential partners and identify areas of need and opportunities for increased efforts in the DC region; Contribute to developing and implementing public policy goals and local anti-hunger advocacy efforts; Identify opportunities to strengthen the DC partner network; Create opportunities for partner agencies to engage with, contribute to, and influence advocacy efforts in the District of Columbia; and Educate internal staff and external supporters on DC partner agency activities. Position Requirements Associates Degree or 3-5 years related experience 2-3 years of customer service experience or member management Must have a valid drivers license Knowledgeable about DC community High comfort level working with diverse community and faith based organizations Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Proficient in Microsoft Office systems and internet resources Other Skills and Abilities Access to reliable vehicle strongly preferred Familiarity with issues of food access, and urban poverty Comfort upholding compliance standards and providing respectful corrective action requests Ability to keep detailed records Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively Strong interpersonal skills and experience with conflict resolution Experience presenting trainings and/or workshops Exhibits creative approaches to meeting challenges Experience working with CRMs and electronic databases Positive demeanor and sense of humor a plus Work Environment: This position is based in Washington DC 4900 Puerto Rico Ave NE, Washington DC 20017 Normal business office, with frequent tight deadlines Work may take place in the food banks office, warehouse, or at community organizations Regular hours Monday Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; with weekends or extended hours for special events. ? Physical requirements: Physical activities involve sitting for 80% of the work day. Occasionally lifts office supplies up to 20 pounds. Ability to travel to sites, as needed, throughout the metropolitan area. Work Environment: Normal office environment, with frequent tight deadlines. Some work may take place in our warehouse distribution center, or at our partner agencies.
