    Do you want you and your neighbors to have more information about what's happening in your community, neighborhood, and city? At Capital B Atlanta, we care about making sure Black Atlanta residents know what's going on. If you care about that too, you can become a Capital B Atlanta Ambassador!

    This is a contract position for a 10-month community engagement project focused on helping us better understand community needs, raising awareness about Capital B's work, and growing our local audience. We're seeking someone to help share important civic information with Black residents in Southwest and West Atlanta and connect them with our newsroom. This position reports to the Atlanta Community Engagement Editor.

    Duration : 10 months

    Compensation : $25 hourly

    Time Commitment : 15 hours weekly.

    What You'll Do

    • Listen. Engage with your community to understand their needs, concerns, and questions. You'll use various means to reach them, including social media, email, phone calls, text messages, neighborhood canvassing, and attending community meetings and special events.
    • Share. Bring Capital B's journalism directly to the community. You'll distribute our work online and in person, and help organize Capital B Atlanta community events, focus groups, and workshops that connect Black residents with our work.
    • Give Feedback. Report back what people are saying about Capital B Atlanta to help our newsroom stay responsive to the community and answer questions that still need answering.

    Who We're Looking For

    • Atlanta residents with strong ties to local communities, especially within Southwest Atlanta, West Atlanta, and HBCU networks.
    • People with a passion for and understanding of Atlanta's Black culture and neighborhoods.
    • Excellent active listeners who are respectful, caring, curious, and fluent in English. Proficiency in other languages is a plus.
    • Individuals with experience in community organizing or community building in the Black community.
