    Job Description

    Capitol National Bank located in Lansing, Michigan is currently filling the position of PART-TIME TELLER. PREVIOUS TELLER EXPERIENCE PREFERRED BUT NOT NECESSARY. Under direct supervision and in conformance with established policies and procedures, provides a variety of customer service functions, including processing savings account, checking account and loan transactions, cashing checks, selling official bank items. May process mail; maintain account records, and cross-sell services. Provides high quality of customer service. Balance each day’s transactions and verify cash totals.

    1. Represents the Bank to customers in a courteous and professional manner. Provides prompt, efficient and accurate service in the processing of transactions.
    2. Receives checks and cash for deposit or withdrawal on savings and checking accounts, verifies deposit amounts, and receives payments for consumer and other loans within bank procedure. Enters all transactions received into the Bank’s records. Following Bank procedures, cashes checks upon verification of signatures and customer account balances.
    3. Cross-sells Bank services, explaining a variety of account types.
    4. May process mail transactions which include deposits, closing checking, savings, CDs and IRAs, ordering checks, change of address, and processing loan payments.
    5. May perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates

    SKILLS/EQUIPMENT

    • Previous Teller experience preferred
    • Ability to organize and prioritize in situations where dramatic changes frequently occur.
    • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully in representing the Bank, maintains a high level of confidentiality.
    • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to handle detail oriented transactions.
    • Highly qualified, proficient, and experienced lending and administrative skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office and various mainframe systems.

    TRAINING / PREPARATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Comply with all requirements, policies and procedures of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and attend all mandatory BSA training as needed for this position. Additionally, complete all required compliance and regulatory training, not limited to BSA.
    • Comply with all Deposit Compliance requirements, polices & procedures and attend all mandatory Deposit Compliance Training.
    • Previous cash handling experience preferred

    WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Generally good. The environment for this position is non-confined office-type setting that is mostly clean and comfortable. Little discomfort caused by such factors as noise, heat or dust. The incumbent in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 20 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching. Exposure to potentially hazardous conditions, i.e. robbery. Detailed instructions and procedures are provided to minimize risk.
