    Description

    Responsibility for a wide variety of administrative matters pertaining to the Training Department for Capstone Fire Management.

    Leadership and Administrative

    In conjunction with other training personnel, oversees fire, rescue and emergency medical training program goals and objectives.

    Schedules specific fire, rescue training and emergency medical exercises in accordance with Divisional needs as well as local, state, and federal mandates.

    Assists in maintaining all records, files and logs related to training received by Capstone personnel.

    Obtains fire/rescue/safety related printed and viewing materials for use by fire personnel.

    Keeps the Division Chief adequately informed of problems, issues and performance in fire service operations; prepares clear and concise reports to the Division Chief.

    When requested, prepares reports of budgeted hours for training.

    Evaluates future program and equipment needs for the Training Division.

    Assist in Research and Development and Safety/Risk Management programs.

    Projects a positive image to the public as a fire service professional. Develops and maintains employee’s support for all safety, fire suppression and fire prevention activities.

    Personnel Management

    Coordinates and monitors the performance of all training, current/ New Hire and/or Promotional by Capstone personnel.

    Maintain training and instructional exercises on selected specialized subjects; maintain records of company fire/rescue training drills.

    Creates and assigns individual and company-based assignments, records performance reviews curriculum and provides reports to company based on these standards.

    Creates recruitment/new hire record development and monitors the progress of probationary personnel; confers with supervisors on the progress made by probationary/promotional employees and conducts promotional testing.

    Training Officer

    Consults with other fire professionals and experts as well as fire services organizations to keep abreast of developments and innovations related to fire suppression, technical rescue and emergency medical care training.

    Reads and obtain knowledge in all areas of fire suppression, Confined space rescue and emergency medical care; compiles information, disseminates information to Divisional personnel.

    Is responsible for maintaining training facilities and all training materials and equipment including tapes, films, viewing equipment and printed materials and records.

    Provides technical assistance to field personnel and other staff in the completion of their work.

    Abides by the rules, regulations, policies, procedures, mission, guiding principles and employee empowerment, and “The Capstone Way”.

    Maintains knowledge, skills and proficiency by attending Training drills and completing Training assignments as directed by the company.

    Preforms audits of training conducted at work locations and training sites.

    Performs additional tasks or duties as assigned.

    High School Diploma

    Instructor 1A and 1B, or satisfactory equivalent

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.

    COMPUTER SKILLS: Advanced computer software application (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and Internet navigational skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    Beneficial Skills and Experience:

    Experience delivering instructional training to adult learners.

    Experience developing curriculum content materials related to public safety.

    3-5 years teaching experience.

    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.

    The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.

    Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    This is a full-time position.

    Travel:

    This position requires routine visits to personnel at various locations and sites. Overnight travel is rare.

    Work Environment:

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
