    Capstone Fire is looking for:

    Crew Boss (CRWB) $23.00 - $25.00 per hour

    Leads a hand crew and is responsible for its safety on wildland and prescribed fire incidents. The CRWB supervises assigned crewmembers and reports to a Strike Team Leader Crew (STCR), Task Force Leader (TFLD), Incident Commander (IC), or other assigned supervisor.

    S-290, Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior

    Completion and Certification of NWCG Crew Boss, Single Resource (CRWB) Position Task Book

    Satisfactory performance as a Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1)

    Knowledge:

    Incident Command System

    Skills:

    Suppressing fires

    Communicating effectively with the general public

    Abilities:

    Duties involve fieldwork requiring physical performance calling for above-average endurance and superior conditioning. These duties may include an occasional demand for extraordinarily strenuous activities in emergencies under adverse environmental conditions and over extended periods of time. Requirements include running, walking, climbing, jumping, twisting, bending, and lifting more than 50 pounds; the pace of work typically is set by the emergency situation.

    Work effectively and safely during unavoidable exposure to an unpleasant environment with exposure to potentially heavy and somewhat unpredictable hazards.

    Follow verbal and written instruction.

    Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

    Think and act quickly and competently in emergencies and under stress

    Minimum Requirements:

    All candidates MUST have clean background investigation and successfully pass an initial drug screening upon offer of employment. The following sections, along with the Qualification section, provide the minimum qualifications for positions in non-exempt categories.

    DMV/EDUC:

    Valid Driver License

    Clean Driver’s Record

    High School Diploma or GED

    EMS:

    CPR with AED

    PHYSICAL FITNESS:

    Work Capacity Test - Arduous Level (Pack Test)

    Pass full DOT physical: bending, pushing, pulling, crouching, and vision

    Drug Testing

    Minimum Experience:

    One (1) year in a professional fire department as a firefighter; and/or

    Three (3) years in a volunteer department

    Minimum Training Requirements:

    Candidate must be accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), National Professional Qualification System (NPQS), an accredited State Fire Marshal's office, or a national accrediting agency (e.g., NWCG)

    THE ACADEMY:

    A mandatory assessment and training period where Capstone Fire Management, Inc. has an opportunity, based on performance and completion of exams, to determine if candidates meet qualifications to be hired.

    Must have access to internet via computer or cellphone. The ability to use and be seen via video is desired.

    Those attending the Academy will be paid at the Capstone Training wage rate, equivalent to the state's minimum wage. Which will be paid on the Capstone normal pay cycle of the 10th or 25th of each month.

    Example Work/Training Dates: 1st-15th, paid on the 25th of the month. 16th-31st, paid on the 10th of the month.

    If a candidate does not complete the program and is separated, at any point, they will be paid in full for hours completed, along with any applicable reimbursements.

    Please be advised all candidates MUST attend the Academy in full, failure to do so will result in disqualification of the hiring process.

    IT IS POSSIBLE TO HAVE APPLIED FOR ONE POSITION AND RECEIVE AN OFFER LETTER FOR A DIFFERENT POSITION DUE TO THE ASSESSMENTS OF THE ACADEMY. (If that situations occurs the candidate will have an opportunity to discuss the scenarios with the Division Chief(s) and determine whether they accept or reject the offer).

    Additional notes for the Academy:

    Classroom wear: Blue dickies and a white T-Shirt, and wildland lug-soled boots. For confined space rescue, hard-toed boots are required. All other PPE will be provided.

    Travel and accommodations will be provided by Capstone for candidates who are in other States and/or live-in areas that are greater than 2 hours to the academy.

    JOB ASSIGNMENT:

    All new hires are expected to report for duty upon contract award, (TBD).

    Capstone employees are eligible for one-time transportation to and from assigned area to be provided by Capstone.

    Accommodations available and provided by Capstone.

    Assignments are temporary/seasonal, part time to full time.

    Shifts can range from, 24 hours a day, to 8 hours a day, Sunday through Saturday as assigned.

    If a candidate successfully completes the program, they will receive a job offer with their pay rate and position.

    PAY RATES ARE EFFECTIVE UPON ACTIVATION TO A FIRE ASSIGNMENT AND ARE EFFECTIVE AFTER THE ACADEMY & TRAINING.

    Hand Crew Compensation effective upon fire incident activation. Pay rate ranges, in general, are as follows, depending on qualifications and/or training:

    Crew Boss (CRWB) - $23.00-$25.00 per hour.

    Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5) - $20.00-$23.00 per hour.

    Specific details about your job assignment and pay rate will be discussed in the Academy.
