Short form video now dominates our feeds and has changed the way businesses market and sell products. Today’s traditional video-making tools are too slow, decades old and can only be used by pros. Capsule’s mission is to unlock the creative talent that exists inside companies everywhere, making professional video accessible to everyone.
We’re just a year old and our collaborative video platform is growing fast! We’re already helping customers like Samsung, Google, Salesforce, Netflix and hundreds more create better, original video content – faster and cheaper than ever before.
We’re looking for a talented and motivated engineer to lead backend development efforts. Your primary responsibility will be building and maintaining APIs that are the backbone of Capsule. As an early member of our team you will receive equity accordingly, allowing you to participate in the upside to the company's success. This a unique opportunity for an experienced engineer who is ready to make their mark.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design innovative technical solutions to shape a quickly evolving product
Develop backend and API features to support new initiatives
Add and maintain integrations with 3rd party APIs
Provide feedback on specs and designs
Collaborate with other engineers on PRs/merges/deployments
Ensure reliability of production environments
Refactor existing components to improve usability and maintainability
Identify opportunities to simplify and reduce technical debt
Ensure software and systems are up-to-date, secure, and compliant
Expand and maintain unit test suite
QA, problem-solving, documentation, training
R&D projects to explore new ideas and experiments
Work fast and enjoy the rapid pace of an early start up working towards product/market fit
Have fun working with other highly-skilled team players in a zero-ego work environment
Bring new ideas to the table that expand the capabilities of the product and delight customers.
REQUIREMENTS
2+ years of professional Ruby on Rails experience, building production applications
3+ years professional software engineering experience
Computer Science or related degree
Highly-motivated, entrepreneurial-minded and have a high EQ
Strong communication and organization skills
Interest in video technology
Experience with all or most of the following: Heroku, AWS, Postgres, Redis
Strong understanding of RDBMS
Experience with CI/CD
Experience with APM and log analytics
Experience developing frontends with frameworks (e.g. Vue, React) a major plus
Experience with Node.js and/or golang a plus
Knowledge of SOC2 / ISO2001 security standards a major plus
