The Vehicle Inspector is a key team member that will be responsible for maintaining high quality and safety standards on the wheelchair-accessible vehicle conversions we produce.
What you'll do:
Perform welding duties on tubular and structural metal frames. Sheet metal welding and welding of vehicle sheet metal. Grind and finish visual parts of the vehicle for paint.
Perform cutting duties on new vehicle chassis, using upto and including but not limited to, Sawzall, cutting wheel, circular saw, band saw, air hammer.
Install new sheet metal to the interior of the vehicle.
Use fabrication skills to make products that meet drawing dimensions. The finished product should be square, level and accurate to drawing and should be free of welding spatter, weld undercut or heavy grinding marks.
Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area.
Effectively communicate with team members regarding material inventory, shop supply inventory, and product scheduling.
What you’ll need:
Understand and apply standard welding techniques.
MIG weld steel
Familiarity with vehicle construction and chassis
Able to read a basic measuring devices, tape measure, framing square, protractor or angle finder
Able to read blue prints
Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
3 years direct experience of automotive conversion
