Intern (Mechatronics) San Francisco Engineering Full-time -Who We Are We build highly intelligent robotic arms that automate tasks no human was born to do. With computer vision and machine intelligence, we make it easy for anyone to program tasks in a matter of hours instead of weeks, while our platform enables developers to build the next generation of robotic applications. Were scrappy, were focused, and were out to change the face of robotics. What You'll Be Doing We're looking for a mechatronics intern, with emphasis in mechanical engineering, to help usdesign parts of the arm and other electromechanical systems. This means lots of CAD work, but then fabricating, assembling, and testing those designs. Because robotics is so multidisciplinary, you'll be working with the EE, Software, and Firmware teams to get everything up and running, and will have to get code working to get the all parts moving. Robotic arms are complex, and so we're looking for someone who's designed some intricate parts to serve critical functions, but also someone who's done a little bit of it all. If you are a student in the process of obtaining your degree, please drop us a line and tell us a bit about yourself and why you'd like to intern with us. We look forward to hearing from you! Please only apply for one role at a time! We will assess all your qualifications and contact you if we determine there is a role that is better suited to your skill set. -Nuts & Bolts -Design parts and assemblies using Solidworks -Fabricate and assemble robots and mechanical test fixtures -Write simple scripts to execute robot commands for in-house testing -Perform measurements on the system to ensure targets are being met -Must-Haves -Pursuing MS/BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience -Significant project experience designing mechanical parts in CAD for complex mechanical assemblies -Comfortable using basic hand tools for electrical and mechanical assembly (screwdrivers, soldering irons, etc.) -Some programming experience -Even Better -Familiarity with C++ and/or Python -Experience drafting drawings and assembly procedures for mechanical parts and assemblies -Comfortable around standard shop tools for metal fabrication (lathes, mills, etc.) -Experience with wire and cable routing on moving assemblies -Working knowledge of GD&T -Pro-Tip -Send us your technical portfolio. Fancy titles at fancy companies are great, but we care way more about what you can build. It doesnt have to be polished, just help us understand who you are and what you can do.
