    Job Overview: AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a skilled Cardiac Catheterization Technician at Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). The technician will assist physicians in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures, operate advanced imaging and monitoring equipment, and ensure accurate documentation and patient safety throughout all procedures.

    This role requires a high level of technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to function effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment.

    General Duties:

    Clinical Privileges: Perform duties within the scope authorized by the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).

    Contract Compliance: Fulfill all responsibilities in accordance with DHA, MTF, and contract requirements.

    Specific Duties:

    Assist physicians with cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures (angioplasty, stent placement, pacemaker/defibrillator insertion, electrophysiology studies)

    Prepare and position patients, ensuring safety, comfort, and monitoring throughout procedures

    Operate and maintain cardiac catheterization lab equipment and imaging systems

    Monitor patient vital signs and cardiac rhythms; report abnormalities promptly

    Record and document patient history, procedural data, and results accurately in electronic systems

    Perform equipment quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting

    Maintain sterile technique and comply with infection control and safety protocols

    Identify anatomical and physiological abnormalities and assist in clinical decision-making

    Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and sterilization of instruments and equipment

    Maintain supply inventory and coordinate replenishment

    Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams

    Provide patient education and reassurance before, during, and after procedures

    Prioritize workload and respond effectively in emergency/high-pressure situations

    Qualifications:

    Degree/Education: Graduate of a Cardiovascular Technologist program accredited by CAAHEP

    Certifications:

    Current Basic Life Support (BLS)

    Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

    Experience: Minimum 18 months of clinical experience within the last 2 years as a Cardiac Catheterization Technician

    Licensure: No state license required; must meet federal/DHA requirements

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)

    Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)

    Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification

    Skills and Abilities:

    Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and disease processes

    Familiarity with cardiac arrhythmias and interventional procedures

    Ability to operate complex diagnostic and interventional equipment

    Knowledge of sterile technique, infection control, and patient safety standards

    Schedule:

    8, 10, or 12-hour shifts

    May include weekends and holidays

    On-call and extended hours may be required

    Work Environment:

    Hospital-based Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory

    Level I Trauma Center setting

    High-acuity, fast-paced clinical environment

    Physical Requirements:

    Must meet occupational health requirements

    Must be free from communicable diseases

    Must complete required physical exam if applicable

    Immunization Requirements:

    Annual influenza vaccination

    Compliance with CDC and DHA immunization and TB screening guidelines

    Security Requirements:

    Must obtain and maintain Tier 1 (NACI) background investigation

    Must be eligible to work in a federal healthcare environment

    Professional Expectations: Adhere to DHA, MTF, and Joint Commission standards; maintain HIPAA compliance; demonstrate professionalism and ethical conduct; participate in required training and continuing education
