Overview
The Interventional Radiology Nurse plays a critical role in providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures. This position requires a strong foundation in nursing practices, along with expertise in various medical disciplines including oncology, cardiology, and reproductive endocrinology. The nurse will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety throughout the procedural process.
Duties
- Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after interventional procedures.
- Administer IV infusions and medications as prescribed.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation, ensuring compliance with medical terminology standards.
- Educate patients and their families about procedures, potential risks, and post-procedure care.
- Assist in the preparation of the interventional radiology suite, ensuring all necessary equipment is available and functioning properly.
- Perform patient assessments to identify any potential complications or concerns.
- Utilize imaging technologies such as CT scans to assist in diagnostic processes.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and infection control measures during all procedures.
Certfications: ACLS, BLS

Requirements
- Current nursing license in the state of practice.
- Experience in interventional radiology or related fields such as oncology, cardiology, or ophthalmology is preferred.
- Proficiency in IV infusion techniques and patient assessment skills.
- Familiarity with coding practices related to interventional procedures is a plus.
- Ability to ventilate patients as needed during procedures.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to interventional radiology.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
