    CARDIOLOGY AND MEDICINE ENTERPRISES

    DESCRIPTION:

    We are looking for an Registered Cardiac Technician that can be a team player in a busy Cardiology practice. The Cardiac Technician provides clinical and administrative expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care. Must be proficient in detecting cardiac dysrhythmias and competent in administering ABIs, event recorders, and holter monitors to patients. Must access patients, obtain medical history, complete lab and x-ray request, keep charts current, and screen calls within physician guidelines. Applicant should have a minimum of two years cardiac experience, possess a caring and professional attitude, have excellent computer skills, and be able to multi-task.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Operates patient monitoring equipment.

    Performs EKG’s and applies EKG leads using cardiac landmarks and records ECG.

    Observes, identifies and documents cardiac rhythms and pulse oximetry readings of patients.

    Interprets cardiac rhythms and pulse oximetry and identifies rate and rhythm of monitor strips.

    Record health history of patient and note abnormal conditions for physician.

    Instruct patients on collection of any necessary samples and tests.

    Obtain vital signs and escort patients to rooms.

    Observe, record, and report patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.

    Ensure that patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely manner and forward charts as appropriate.

    Maintain patient files, records, and other information.

    Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments.

    Arrange referrals to a specialist and obtain pre-authorizations when directed to by the provider.

    Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.

    Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments.

    Notify patients of test results and follow-up appointments.

    Instruct patient and family regarding treatments, procedures, and follow-up instructions.

    Control inventory and monitor the use of supplies.

    Maintain up to date stock and monitor and maintain medical equipment.

    Respond to and screen telephone calls for physician. Triaging patients to ensure productive departmental flow.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Successful completion of a Monitor Technician Course or Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation Competency is required.

    Must be able to obtain Vitals and Room Patients. Perform EKG’s, ABI’s, Venipuncture, Treadmill Stress Tests, and Limited X-Rays.

    Must have at least one (1) year of clinical experience.

    Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus.
