Large governmental agency is seeking a Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant to assist in the OR as a first or second surgical assistant, open and close incisions, vein harvesting, and to perform other duties within the defined scope of practice..

WORK LOCATION: 5000 W National Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53295

PAY: $200/hr - $250/hr (depending on experience) PLUS 12 paid holidays

CONTRACT DATES: ASAP - 3/11/30 (This is a five-year role, but you can step away if circumstances change)

HOURS: M-F, 7-4:30 (40 hrs/wk)

OVERVIEW

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in OR procedures, including emergency care as needed.
• Perform CPR and BLS (including defibrillation and cardioversion if certified).
• Document patient treatment in the VA electronic medical record within four hours.
• Comply with Milwaukee VA policies (narcotic control, infection control, etc.).
• Follow patient safety and infection control protocols, reporting incidents within 24 hours.

Qualifications:

• Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant license (any U.S. state, territory, or D.C.).
• Board Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Minimum one year of experience assisting in cardiothoracic surgery.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
