Responsibilities: Preoperative Duties: • Meet the patient in the preoperative area and ensure consent and documents are complete and accurate • Assist in patient preparation, including positioning, site preparation and draping in accordance with procedural and safety standards • Ensure all necessary surgical instruments and equipment are prepared and readily available for procedures • Conduct preoperative briefings with the surgical team to review case details and procedural requirements Intraoperative Support: • Provide direct surgical assistance to the operating physician, including tissue handling, retraction, hemostasis, and suturing • Utilize advanced surgical techniques and instrumentation to facilitate efficient and precise procedures • Maintain a sterile environment throughout the procedure, adhering to strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols • Monitor and respond to intraoperative needs adjusting support as necessary to ensure seamless surgical flow Postoperative Responsibilities: • Assist in patient stabilization and transfer patient from operating table to recovery area • Ensure proper documentation of surgical procedures are complete • Participate in debriefings to assess procedural outcomes and identify areas for improvement Qualifications: • Able to use a computer to complete administrative tasks • Previous experience as a medical assistant performing administrative duties or similar role in a healthcare work environment is preferred • Candidates must have successfully completed an accredited medical assisting program a supervised externship in a healthcare setting • Graduated from high school or received GED • Strong communication skills and customer service skills • Must hold a valid and current Texas Medical Board issued Surgical Assistant License • Valid and current Certification from a recognized accrediting body such as the American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA) or the National Surgical Assistant Association (NSAA) is required • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) or equivalent • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Cardiovascular surgical assisting in a hospital or an outpatient surgical center • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proficient medical terminology with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment • Proficiency in various surgical specialties, including but not limited to cardiovascular, neurosurgery, orthopedic, general surgery and minimally invasive procedures • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills • Foreign MDs must pass TOEFL Test Compensation: $115,000 - $140,000
