Job Overview: AIMS Locum Tenens seeks a qualified Cardiovascular Technician to provide cardiovascular procedural support at Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC), Fort Belvoir, VA. The technician assists physicians and the cardiovascular team during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures in the cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology environments.
Responsibilities include preparing equipment, monitoring patient status, operating imaging and physiological monitoring systems, assisting with sterile procedures, and documenting care in the electronic medical record. The technician works closely with cardiologists, nurses, and healthcare staff to deliver safe patient care and support emergency procedures as part of the hospital’s 24/7 STEMI and interventional teams.
Key Duties:
Supports cardiac catheterizations, angioplasty, and stent procedures.
Performs patient assessments, vital signs, IV access, and education.
Obtains labs, EKGs, and imaging; documents results accurately.
Maintains sterile technique and prepares procedural fields.
Monitors cardiac rhythms and pressure waveforms; assists with sedation.
Operates fluoroscopy, C‑arm, DSA, and contrast injectors.
Works with devices including IVUS, FFR, temporary pacemakers, and IABPs.
Provides hemostasis and manages closure devices.
Responds to emergencies and supports ACLS interventions.
Manages equipment, inventory, room turnover, and sterilization.
Participates in 24/7 STEMI on‑call rotations and supports staff training.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited U.S. cardiovascular/interventional training program; high school diploma or equivalent required. Certification: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) from CCI; Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Experience: Minimum 5 years of catheterization laboratory experience after program completion. Licensure: Active RCIS credential required. Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen for federal contract work.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and catheterization procedures
Ability to operate imaging/monitoring equipment
Experience with interventional cardiology devices (catheters, guidewires, balloons, stents)
Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and pressure waveforms
Strong communication and teamwork in high-acuity environments.
Schedule:
Full-time Monday–Friday,
0700–1600 (8-hour shifts) with on-call nights/weekends.
Work Environment: Invasive Cardiology (Cath Lab), sterile procedural environment with direct patient care.
Immunization: Must meet patient-facing immunization requirements.
Security: Must pass federal background checks and credentialing.
