    Framatome - Fuel - Development, design, licensing and fabrication of fuel assemblies and core components for nuclear reactors

     

    The Thermal-Mechanics Fuel Rod Analysis and Design team supports a vast array of projects including thermal and mechanical evaluations of fuel rod behavior, maintenance and improvement of existing computer codes and methods, and development of new performance models, computer codes, and analysis methods.

     

    Thermal-Mechanical Engineers:

    • Are responsible for evaluating the thermal and mechanical performance of fuel rods and control components in a Light Water Reactor environment, using computer codes, empirical methods, and first principles methods.
    • Participate in the development of computer codes and automation software aimed at improving the efficiency of the methods applied to the evaluation of fuel rod behavior.
    • Represent Framatome by bringing safe and economical solutions to the nuclear industry..

    Required Skills Required Experience

    ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY:

    • BS in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology plus 0 -2 years of engineering experience. In applicable states a PE license will be accepted in lieu of a 4 year engineering degree.

    • Strong technical problem-solving abilities

    • Strong interpersonal skills

    • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills

     

     

    THE FOLLOWING MAY BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION:

    • Experience in scientific / technical code development and programming (e.g. Fortran of C++) and other modern coding tools or techniques (e.g. PYTHON or SCRUM), and in technical document preparation and review.
    • High degree of familiarity with software development processes and NQA-1 requirements.
    • Prior experience with fuel rod performance codes.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to work a retail schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays.
    • Interior design or sales experience/knowledge a plus but not required.
    • Physically able to be on your feet and move throughout our showrooms over an 8-12 hour work day.
    • Ability to maintain emotional composure in a professional business setting with customers, peers and management.
    • Strong work ethic and dependability a must
    • General computer proficiency
    • Professional dress required

    WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Work performed in a store environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopies and fax machines. Use of personal cell phone for customer contact and follow up and personal computer tablet for room sketching. Regularly required to view, see, manipulate and handle product to demonstrate to customers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  The employee continuously walks or stands on the store’s showroom floor.  Stands for extended periods of time.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and required to lift and carry small items up to 30 pounds, such as lamps, etc
