    JOB SUMMARY:

     

    The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan policy research organization. CSIS was founded in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of foreign policy and international economics across the globe.

    CSIS is seeking a full-time program coordinator and research assistant (PCRA) to support the CSIS Reconnecting Asia Project–an initiative that analyses the evolving digital, transport, and energy connectivity of Eurasia, including China’s Belt and Road Initiative. The team’s research has been featured in The New York Times, The Financial Times, and other leading international outlets. The PCRA will be responsible for a wide range of project components, including overseeing research tasks for the intern team, managing the project website and publications process, coordinating events and mailings, and providing research and analytical support for the project’s director. Previous members of the team have gone on to win prestigious scholarships, enter top graduate schools, and secure full-time positions in the public and private sectors.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following: •Coordinate key activities, including managing interns, social media accounts, drafting mailings, editing publications, overseeing the budget, and performing other administrative functions as needed.

    •Managing virtual and in-person public and private events, including speaker recommendations, scheduling, agendas, tracking RSVPs, and liaising with the audio-visual and events teams.

    •Conduct research, including collecting data and performing analysis related to China’s infrastructure projects and other foreign economic activities, especially in emerging markets, and formulating policy options for U.S. policymakers.

    KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

    •Bachelor’s degree required. •Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication skills, including the ability to effectively coordinate with project stakeholders in the public, academic, and private sectors, and coach a diverse team remotely and in-person. •Background in foreign policy, economics, technology, and familiarity with key policy issues related to China’s Belt and Road Initiative and digital connectivity. •Experience performing quantitative analysis in Excel, managing data, and overseeing budgets preferred.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    •  Safely lift furniture merchandise while elevated on warehouse equipment at heights of 30-40 feet above the ground

    •  Lift, Move, Push and Pull furniture up to and in excess of 110 pounds •  Physically able to be on your feet and move throughout the warehouse over an 8-12 hour work day / entire shift
