POSITION SUMMARY: The X-Ray Tech is responsible for providing basic clinical care to patients commensurate with their medical education. The X-Ray Tech will perform x-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement using knowledge of anatomy and physiology. The X-Ray Tech will prepare patients for continued medical evaluation by physicians, physician assistants, and advanced registered nurse practitioners by taking a brief history, establishing vital signs, recording appropriate documentation on approved CareSpot|MedPost forms and recognizing levels of acuity allowing appropriate medical intervention when necessary. The X-Ray Tech is also responsible for patient registration and up-front processes.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains Customer Loyalty score at or above company benchmark
Ability to check patients in and out at the front desk to ensure patient flow when needed
Promptly greets patients upon arrival and provides explanation to available services at the center; Consistently communicates with patients on wait times; provides direction to the next step in the treatment process
Promptly answers incoming calls, gathers information to determine callers needs and consistently provides resolution to caller that supports CareSpot | MedPost values
Responsible for confirming requirements of the visit for all occupational medicine and worker’s compensation contracts; reviews reference guide and prepares proper paperwork for execution by the Medical Assistants
Verifies insurance eligibility and accurately determines co-payment and co-insurance payment requirements
Accurately enters charges into practice management system following proper protocols to ensure reimbursement by carriers
Ensures consistent follow through on CareSpot Financial Policy and effectively communicates payment due on date of service
Collects payments and accurately records payments in practice management system
Responsible for balancing cash drawer on a daily basis; executes nightly close process
Ensures completion of all necessary documents needed in order to bill for services related to workers’ compensation and occupational health clients
Responsible for all contract requirements, keeps updated on changes affecting Managed Care, Workers’ Compensation, Occupational Medicine
Assists medical staff with keeping patient flow moving in the queues
Provides solutions to patient problems and recognizes and seeks help in emergent/ hazardous situations
Provides timely follow up regarding lab and x-ray results
Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and weight, takes brief history, past medical, family and social history, current mediations, allergies and other pertinent historical information as appropriate
Laboratory duties- Perform CLIA-waived lab test, and collect and label specimens for any send out labs; Perform DOT and Non-DOT urine drug screens and Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT)
Prepares patients for radiologic procedures and follows established clinical and regulatory procedures in regards to patient safety and care; including proper radiation protection and shielding techniques
Ensures that equipment is in proper working order and reports any malfunctions to the Center Manager or designee on duty
Follows documentation procedures and completes required paperwork related to patient visit
Maintains examination room and stocks if necessary
Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and patient confidentiality policies
Laboratory procedures appropriate for level of training under the direction of a clinician
Performs other duties as assigned
