    DESCRIPTION

    The Social Work Department at Azusa Pacific University seeks to prepare students for professional social work practice as demonstrated by competence in skill performance with diverse populations in a variety of settings. As a mid-sized thriving department, emphasis is on engagement with students that integrates high expectations with high support for academic success. Training focuses on a holistic approach to professional development with a goal to prepare effective generalist and advanced social work practitioners. The internship program is a collaboration between community based agencies and the university; providing sites where students can integrate the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom into professional settings.

     

    MSW Program options include full-time, part-time, and advanced standing options. Teaching may include foundation and/or specialization level courses. Specialized practice options include _The Community Leadership and Program Administration _specialization prepares students for macro practice in local, national, and international contexts. The Clinical Practice with Individuals and Families specialization prepares students for a range of clinically-oriented practice settings.

     

    We are currently seeking candidates with experience in social work supervision, training, teaching, and program administration. As our student body is reflective of the diversity of Southern California, the Department seeks to recruit faculty from diverse backgrounds, committed to excellence, a collaborative environment, and social justice. Experience in higher education and macro social work practice preferred.

     

    SPECIALIZATION: Field education and supervision, administration and planning, and direct practice. 

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Teach field seminar and other courses in area of expertise.
    • Liaison with student field internship sites.
    • Work with the MSW Director of Field Education  and collaboratively with other field team members, assist in student placement, field administration, site supervision, student supervision, and development of field sites. 
    • Assist in student advising, program assessment and student admissions.
    • Assist in training and development activities for field supervisors and community partners.
    • Participate in the life of the department as well as the university is required.
    • Contribute to development and dissemination of knowledge and expertise. 
    • Work at alternative Regional Campuses or Sites as indicated for role.

      

    LEVEL: Faculty Appointment, rank based on education and experience.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Master of Social Work degree from an accredited social work program, LCSW, with minimum three years of experience in field education/agency supervision required with a demonstrated commitment to field education. Demonstrated administration/program development experience desired. Candidates must be able to communicate their Christian faith and how they ethically integrate faith in social work scholarship and practice. Basic computer skills required.

     

    EXPERIENCE: 

    Strong leadership, training, clinical, supervision, program development, inter-professional collaboration, and community-based skills. Ability to adapt to fast-paced environment, with strong organizational ability. 

     

    WORKLOAD:  Twelve-month contract.
