    Chief Physician will help manage large University Campus Clinic. The department provides ambulatory health care, health education programs, prevention, and healing services to students.

    Will lead a team of 3 physicians 4 physician assistants/nurse practitioners in a general primary care setting. Participates in the credentialing and privileging process for all clinicians. Facilitates and monitors professional peer review process; ensures that it meets AAAHC standards; provides the Health Records Technician the list of topics to be reviewed in the ensuing year. Serve as a consultant to the Director and contributes to performance evaluations of the clinical and ancillary staff. Serves as the Director of Laboratory and Radiology Supervisor unless delegated to another clinical staff member. Provides consultation regarding Pharmacy services. Reviews group physicals such as athletic physicals and international physicals and makes appropriate dispositions.

Provide care for patient populations ages 17-50+ primarily examines, diagnoses, and treats patients, including those referred by Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. Diagnose illnesses and prescribe and administer medical treatment. Additional experience in the counsel students on related medical/personal problems and health measures and refers, when appropriate, to other health care professionals for diagnosis and treatment.

    Ideal candidate will have experience in the following:

    • Thorough knowledge of the principles and methods of board-certified medical specialty.
    • Thorough knowledge of community resources in medical treatment and public health practices. Specialized knowledge of diagnosis of common medical disorders and injuries.
    • Knowledge and familiarity with standards and ethics of the California Medical Association and American Medical Association.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Possession of a valid and current California license to practice medicine.
    • Current medical board certification appropriate to assigned duties, e.g., pediatrics, gynecology, internal medicine, family practice, emergency, public health.
    • Possession of a current Drug Enforcement Agent license for prescribing physicians.
    • Appropriate cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
    • Board certified or Board eligible
    • Completion of one or more approved residency programs in specialty appropriate to assigned duties; and two years or its equivalent of increasingly responsible experience in the practice of the specialty; prior or current affiliation with a hospital, ambulatory clinic or private practice is desirable.
