A family-owned company based in Birmingham, Alabama is looking to fill a Supply Chain Coordinator position. The Supply Chain Coordinator will serve on the Logistics & Procurement teams and report to the Company’s Supply Chain Manager. The position will handle a variety of duties essential to the successful execution of raw material planning.
Responsibilities:
- Track and monitor raw material purchases from initial order to delivery
- Interact daily with vendors, ocean carriers, freight forwarders, warehouse operators and internal groups concerning shipment progress, container pickup, and timely delivery
- Manage the organization, packet preparation, and filing of import documentation for corporate record keeping
- Ensure physical shipment attributes match all required import documentation
- Facilitate claims process with vendors and take corrective action as necessary to resolve discrepancies, damages, overages, or shortages
- A/P execution: audit and reconciliation of Vendor, Freight Forwarder, Customs Broker invoices before sending to Accounting for payment
- Assist with rate request process working with Freight Forwarders to provide timely, accurate, and competitive freight quotes to Sales
- Cross-train and act as a backup for the purchasing, freight scheduling, and key logistics operations
- Assist with evaluating Supply Chain policies, procedures & processes and outlining opportunities for targeting increased efficiency & productivity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business related field or 5 years of related experience
- Expert knowledge in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of ocean, air, rail, and truck transport shipping environment
- Basic knowledge of international logistics, freight forwarding, and transportation principles
- Knowledge of basic accounting principals
- Demonstrated knowledge of inventory management methods
