Electrician Job Responsibilities

Plan and install new or modified electrical systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA 70 and local electrical codes

Prepare sketches or follow blueprints for wiring and equipment locations

Measure, cut, bend, and install electrical conduit; pull wiring through conduit

Splice and connect wires to fixtures and power equipment

Install and maintain control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels

Test continuity of circuits and make necessary adjustments or replacements

Observe installed equipment to detect hazards and make necessary adjustments

Qualifications

One-year certificate from a college or technical school preferred

Four years of related experience and two years of technical craft training, or an equivalent combination

Knowledge of Basic Algebra and Geometry

Experience with Allen Bradley PLC and software is a plus

Must possess a valid California Driver’s License

Physically able to stand, walk, and lift up to 100 pounds occasionally; specific vision abilities required

Adherence to safety procedures and proper use of safety gear
