CareerPlug is proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse team. Our leadership takes responsibility for creating a safe and welcoming environment built on inclusion and respect for all.

    About the team

The Senior Product Designer will be a member of the Product Team at CareerPlug. Our team has adopted Basecamp’s Shape Up method of shipping products. Designers and developers work in tandem through all the stages of product development. This includes user research, design, user testing, and iteration. Project teams own the work from start to finish, and share the project management responsibilities through the work cycle.

    What are we looking for?

As our Senior Product Designer you will be an impactful member of our product experience team, working to solve problems, lead with data, and build simple yet exceptional user experiences. You will own projects from start to finish, collaborating with developers to define solutions for product pitches and execute.

The right match for this position has exceptional user experience skills. Asking questions is second nature to you, and you’re relentlessly curious about the users and how they work. Ideally you have 2-3 years of experience with a SaaS company and/or in a small team environment. Experience with lean design practices, along with the ability to collaborate with developers to deliver final solutions is a big plus.

You are confident in your ability to guide product solutions, and can gauge when to step back and reassess the solution. Your knowledge of web-app experiences is extensive, and you’re able to easily leverage this in your day-to-day design work. Keeping up to date with trends in design and experience, and sometimes programming, are second nature to you.

    Specific Responsibilities:

Design intuitive solutions faced by CareerPlug’s customers, while balancing business needs and available resources.

The design deliverables are atypical in this team. We rely on wireframes, whiteboards and flowcharts to communicate solutions. High fidelity mockups are needed on a case-by-case basis.

Collaborate with Developers closely to generate usable solutions to user problems. You don’t have to be a proficient programmer, but familiarity with the development realm aids in successful collaboration.

Solicit feedback from client facing teams, as well as Sales, to understand our user base and effectiveness of proposed solutions.

Document communications, finding, and project progress

    Provide mentorship to junior designers

    Job Requirements:

2-3+ years experience in a UX, product or interface role, preferably at a SaaS Company/small team environment

Ability to make quick prototypes using Sketch and InVisionapp

Practical knowledge of web design, adaptive/responsive principles mobile/desktop trends and patterns

Ability to articulate design decisions as well as provide and receive feedback

    Strong communication skills

Comfortable using data to inform design decisions

We have transitioned to a Remote First company forever and will have a reduced office space in Austin in the future (earliest Summer 2021 depending on current health & safety guidelines). This role may be filled by either an Austin resident or as a fully remote role for any U.S.-based candidate.
