Job Duties
Knowledge of technology required by a Public Safety Telecommunicator
Willingness to learn Criminal Justice Information Software and telephone equipment to communicate with the deaf and hearing impaired.
Communication skills, customer service skills, and active listening
Answer routine inquires and refer calls not requiring dispatches to appropriate departments and agencies.
Ability to Multitask
Question callers to determine their locations and the nature of their problems to determine the type of response needed.
Time Management
Willingness to obtain or possess CPR/Basic Lifesaving Certifications
Disseminate confidential information- record details of calls, dispatches, and messages.
Geographical awareness and location technology
Relay information and messages to and from emergency sites to law enforcement agencies, and to all other individuals or groups requiring information.
Ability to remain calm and react/respond quickly in emergencies.
