Job Duties

• Knowledge of technology required by a Public Safety Telecommunicator
• Willingness to learn Criminal Justice Information Software and telephone equipment to communicate with the deaf and hearing impaired.
• Communication skills, customer service skills, and active listening
• Answer routine inquires and refer calls not requiring dispatches to appropriate departments and agencies.
• Ability to Multitask
• Question callers to determine their locations and the nature of their problems to determine the type of response needed.
• Time Management
• Willingness to obtain or possess CPR/Basic Lifesaving Certifications
• Disseminate confidential information- record details of calls, dispatches, and messages.
• Geographical awareness and location technology
• Relay information and messages to and from emergency sites to law enforcement agencies, and to all other individuals or groups requiring information.
• Ability to remain calm and react/respond quickly in emergencies.
