    **“ _This is a Paid Internship position available through CareerSource Capital Region. All candidates will be considered after program eligibility is determined.”_ **

    About this position**

    Job duties:

    ● Follow all program rules and regulations while overseeing basketball programs at their designated site, i.e., leagues, clinics, camps, etc.

    ● Assist Director in supervising volunteer coaches, officials and scorekeepers but also assume those roles whenever needed.

    ● Check area for safety hazards and report deficiencies, accidents/incidents to supervisor; administer proper first aid as required.

    ● Be on site 30 min - 1 hr before the program starts for set up/prep and to ensure a safe play area. Also, tear down and clean up at conclusion of program.

    ● Communicate with participants, volunteers, referees and other staff in a professional manner.

    ● Typically occurring Fall, Winter and Summer Seasons.

    ● Report to the lead coordinator and complete assignments as given.

    ● Oversee session activities to ensure a fun and safe environment for all participants.

    ● Ensure participants are engaged and playing fairly and injuries are responded to quickly.

    ● Set up and maintain hydration stations, basketballs and other equipment needed in the gym.

    ● Ensure all signage is set up, when needed.

    ● Follow all departmental rules and regulations.

    ● Assist the coaches, officials, and scorekeepers, as needed.

    ● Check the gym for safety hazards and report deficiencies to the supervisor or lead coordinator.

    ● Report all accidents/incidents occurring in the gym to the supervisor or lead coordinator.

    ● Administer proper CPR and First Aid as required.

    ● Typically occurring Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer Seasons

    ●Uses electrical cleaning equipment (i.e., vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, high-speed buffers); electrical equipment and various hand tools, such as rakes, shovels and hammers.

    ●Uses chemicals and cleaners safely, productively, and according to instructions to ensure personal, public, and staff safety.

    ●Ensures facilities are available and secured according to schedule (i.e., locking doors and windows, turning off electrical units).

    ●Performs custodial tasks (i.e., emptying and cleaning waste receptacles; mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors; washing windows; dusting furniture; cleaning vents, fans, walls; sanitizing restrooms, kitchen facilities, changing light bulbs; assisting in setting up for meetings and conferences).

    ●Cleans equipment and tools after use and maintains cleanliness and order in storage areas; performs routine maintenance on facility custodial equipment, such as changing vacuum cleaner belts and bags, and changing buffer machine pads.

    ●Reports equipment malfunctions and facility maintenance needs.

    preferred qualifications** ****

    ● Willingness to work with children as positive coach and mentor.

    ● Reliable transportation to and from games and events.

    ● Attend a one-day training.

    ● Be confident and capable of dealing with parents and upholding a positive attitude.

    ● Clean background check.

    ● CPR and First Aid preferred. If not already certified, hired individuals will be given the opportunity to get certified.

    ● Previous experience working with children in a group or individualized situation is a plus but not required. However, interns will be given opportunities to engage with youth.

    ● Ability to organize groups and activities, cooperative attitude and a team player a must.

    ● Ability to work nights and weekends when the program is most active.
