    JOB DESCRIPTION: COST ANALYST DIRECT REPORT TO: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ACCOUNTING & FINANCE AND PLANT CONTROLLER

    MAJOR PURPOSE:

    We are searching for a Cost Analyst with outstanding growth potential. This fast-paced environment is seeking a strong Cost Analyst to function as a business partner with plant and financial management to effectively manage and control the production and warehouse facilities. The Cost Analyst will help our company control expenses through financial research and analysis.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    ? Bachelor’s degree (B.A. /B.S.) in finance/ business/ accounting from four-year College or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience. ? Minimum of five years hands-on experience in financial experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. ? Experience working with manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards. ? Experience with production planning systems, preferably with MRP (Microsoft Navision) and financial modeling using Excel. ? Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to effectively articulate insights and recommend actions. ? Ability to analyze situations and react in a timely manner. ? Be detail focused and possess strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills. ? Possess solid PC skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.; IT system aptitude a must. ? Strong organization and project-management skills, including the ability to meet demanding, evolving, and often competing deadlines.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    INVENTORY

    ? Monitor the Warehouse department’s Weekly Cycle Counts including:  o Review the weekly cycle count plan.  o Ensure the weekly counts happen so that all inventory items are counted at least once per quarter.  o Follow up on major inventory discrepancies including researching why the discrepancy arose.  ? Monitor, analyze, and report on inventory valuation, production, and various other costs.  ? Conduct physical inventories as needed.

    COSTING

    ? Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare weekly reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.  ? Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost.  ? Plan, Study, and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.  ? Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.  ? Provide productivity analysis and recommend changes in operating procedures to improve efficiencies.  ? When necessary, offer analytical support for departmental projects.  ? Stay up-to-date on project budgets and project spending.  ? Examine data to help reduce cost in all operations.  ? Contribute to developing yearly operation plans, budgets, and estimating new product costs.  ? Work with the Plant Controller to train employees in cost management methods.

    FINANCIAL

    ? Work with Plant Controller to provide Weekly Scorecard reporting including:  o Management Report  o Supply Chain Score Card  o Manufacturing Hours  o Inventory Turns  ? Develop and Audit Cost Accounting Procedures  o Report on discrepancies  ? ROI Calculations and Adhoc analysis as required.
