Carmot is applying an innovative technology, Chemotype Evolution, to overcome the limitations of conventional discovery technologies and identify superior drug candidates for challenging therapeutic targets. With multiple discovery programs and partnerships, Carmot is seeking a versatile and creative associate to join the Chemistry team.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

     We are seeking an individual who has a passion for medicinal chemistry, a willingness to learn and innovate, and excel at making molecules using modern methods of organic synthesis. In this research position you will play a key role in discovering and advancing compounds for the treatment of major human diseases. Your job will be to advance the early leads generated by Chemotype Evolution to clinical candidates.  You will be working closely with other scientists in chemistry, biochemistry and screening as part of a multidisciplinary team and will integrate diverse chemical and biological data to accelerate lead discovery. You will be working in a fast-paced environment and must be motivated by novel challenges, inspired by the deployment of creative solutions, and dedicated to generating high-quality data.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Compound synthesis and characterization of both peptides and small molecules
    • Contribute to laboratory organization and maintenance as a member of the chemistry team
    • Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook
    • Presentation of research updates at team meetings

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

    • BA/MS in Chemistry with experience in organic synthesis
    • Excellent experimental skills and passion for working at the bench
    • Superb analytical skills and experience in compound synthesis and characterization
    • Excellent data analysis skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Good multitasking and organizational skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability and expertise to work within a multi-disciplinary team
