    Carmot Therapeutics (“Carmot”) is focused on the discovery and development of transformative therapies for patients with serious unmet medical needs. Carmot applies Chemotype Evolution (CE), a pioneering drug discovery technology, in combination with unique biological expertise to identify innovative and superior therapeutics.

    We're seeking an ambitious and experienced Finance professional to join our team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in either the biotechnology or technology industry, with experience supporting companies in high growth mode and wants to apply their experience in a private company that is preparing for a potential IPO. We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has excellent communication skills, and wants to take on broad responsibilities to directly contribute to our success. We seek a team member who wants to be fully integrated into every aspect of the company, from research to business execution.

    In this position, you will report to the Chief Business Officer and oversee accounting operations as well as provide business insight and financial analysis related to key business and corporate development activities. You will work closely with clinical, research, manufacturing and senior management teams to provide financial operations necessary to advance clinical and IND-stage programs and research platform. You will be directly responsible for leading the budgeting, monthly close and financial tracking and reporting related processes and other key accounting and finance obligations.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversee accounting, financial reporting and equity mgt. operations for the Company in a manner consistent with an “IPO ready” approach

    • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

    • Issue timely and complete financial statements and reports including for an overseas subsidiary

    • Work cross functionally and manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts

    • Manage outsourced accounting, audit and tax service providers and processes

    • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

    • Provide financial insight and analysis on select corporate development activities including: strategic partnerships, capital raising, corporate structuring, major contract negotiations

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    The Corporate Controller candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience. 10+ years of progressive experience in a life sciences company. Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.

    KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Accounting and financial reporting requirements

    • Corporate controller and/or senior accounting role within a public company

    • Developing standards and managing processes

    • Budget development and tracking

    • Financial and business analysis

    • Working cross functionally including communicating effectively with scientists

    • Project management skills and ability to lead teams with diverse backgrounds

    • Strong inter-personal and written and verbal communication skills
