Intern, Foundation Relations Department: Development Reports To: Director, Foundation Relations Classification: Internship Job Code: FRIN The Foundation Relations team is seeking a part-time paid intern for Summer of 2018 to join their dynamic, close-knit group that manages relationships with more than 100 foundations and raises nearly $4 million in revenue for Carnegie Hall every year. Our five-person team consists of a Director, Manager, Associate, Assistant, and Intern. The Foundation Relations Intern conducts prospect research and assists with donor cultivation projects, including developing donor profiles and maintaining data in our prospect management database. The intern also assists with donor correspondence. The benefits of being an intern and joining the team As a member of the Foundation Relations team, the intern will gain skills in prospect research, prospect and donor cultivation strategies, and donor stewardship, and use of a donor relationship management system, Tessitura, and other databases and development services processes to support that work. These skills are required for a career in fundraising or grantmaking, and will also be helpful for a career in another area of arts administration, such as marketing or public relations. The intern will also gain valuable knowledge of the New York fundraising landscape for cultural institutions, become familiar with the missions, grantmaking strategies and staff and trustees of foundations supporting the performing arts and an understanding of how a large arts organization plans strategically to meet its annual fund goals. Our team is highly collaborative, and the intern, reporting to the Director, will benefit from working closely with each member of the team. The intern will receive ongoing feedback on his or her work and will have the opportunity to produce a professional portfolio of prospect research and donor communication, which can be used for future job applications. Qualifications The Foundation Relations intern must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Should be pursuing a Bachelors degree or hold BA. The intern must be organized and detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to work independently, and should have computer skills, particularly knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products.
