    Job Description

    Carolina Canners supplies its stockholders and neighboring bottlers with the highest of quality soft drinks from a very modern production center located in Cheraw, SC. Carolina Canners has expanded many times and now has a can production line, 2 bottle production lines, and a fountain syrup production line producing numerous brands, flavors, and packages of water, fruit juice drinks, tea, energy drinks and carbonated and non- carbonated soft drinks.

    OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

    Purchase goods, service, and materials ensuring availability to support the production schedule. Consideration to price, cost savings, quality, delivery, and continuity of supply. Other responsibilities include managing inventory levels, interacting with suppliers on a variety of topics, and supporting other business functions as required.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
    • Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms with suppliers
    • Collaborate with Planning Department and other internal customers and provide a high level of customer service, including recommending solutions, resources, and alternative supply options
    • Conduct research for new components, suppliers and services (attaining 3 quotes for projects)
    • Build and manage professional supplier relationships, maintaining good communications 
    • Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery and proper closure of order in ERP
    • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice discrepancies
    • Prepare purchase orders
    • Maintain accurate pricing in supplier pricing tables in ERP
    • Assess and evaluate supplier performance and contract compliance
    • Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunities for continuous improvement
    • Provide reports and analysis on costs, new and existing, and review cost reduction activities
    • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers
    • Ensure and promote compliance to Company and Procurement policies and procedures
    • Adhere to health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors
    • Supervisory responsibilities

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 5+ years procurement experience within a manufacturing environment
    • Supply Chain Degree/Certification
    • Successful cost savings initiatives
    • Basic cost accounting concepts (Bills of Material) and impacts on customer margin
    • Familiarity with an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
    • Computer literate, with advanced Excel skills
    • MRP experience preferred
    • Project Management experience preferred
