    The MiTek Legal Department is seeking an experienced attorney to join its small in-house team to help guide the company through various labor and employment matters. This individual will need to be able to effectively implement standard processes across a wide variety of business units, while building and maintaining strong relationships with the relevant stakeholders. This individual must possess a high level of integrity and professionalism.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Counsel HR and managers on day to day employee relations issues, for workforce of approximately 5,000 employees (primarily US);
    • Policy, handbook, and contract drafting and review
    • Provide guidance on terminations and discipline
    • Assist HR and investigation teams in responding to investigations and compliance related matters
    • Counsel HR on leave administration and accommodation issues, as well as develop training, guidance and processes on same
    • Advise on compensation issues, including FLSA classifications and compensation plans
    • Advise on employee benefits issues
    • Prepare and conduct HR and management training on various employment issues
    • Manage employment claims, workers’ compensation claims, EEOC complaints, litigation, and charges
    • Assist in responding to employment-related subpoenas, garnishments and related documents
    • Advise on plant openings, relocations and closings
    • Experience with employment aspects of M&A preferred
    • Experience with labor relations (MiTek has a small population of unionized employees) preferred
    • Experience with affirmative action preferred
    • Experience with international employment law issues preferred

    Required Experience

    • Education: Juris Doctor Degree
    • Experience: 7+ years of employment law experience, with particular focus on advice and counsel (salary for role is commensurate with this experience level)
    • Computer Skills:  Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook).
    • Experience with employment aspects of M&A preferred
    • Experience with labor relations preferred (MiTek has a small population of unionized employees) 
    • Experience with affirmative action preferred
    • Experience with international employment law issues preferred
